You Pick The Prince Of Persia Achievement

Want to help develop the next great Prince of Persia title from Ubisoft? Well you can't, but you can influence the game's achievements right now at the PoP web page by casting your vote for the Player's Choice achievement. Choices include achievements for longest grip fall, running distance, or mastering all of the combos in the game.

We want to give you, the fans, the opportunity to make an impact on the next-gen debut of the Prince of Persia series. We've already got a great set of achievements planned for the Xbox 360 version, but we're making room for one more. Vote for your favorite achievement, and we'll add the most popular choice into the game!

Of course this only applies to the Xbox 360 version, but the page does mention something special planned for PS3 fans down the line as well. Xbox 360 fans might be getting a chance to vote, but PS3 fans get a surprise! Face!

Jug Hero, The New Global Phenomenon

Is Man ever really any happier than when He's playing with a nice pair of jugs? Apparently that's the philosophy behind Jug Hero.
Two players are assigned one jug instrument each, which they blow puffs of air into to score points. Players also "clink" their instruments together in a social "cheers!" that allots them bonus points.
The PC-based game uses a jug peripheral loaded with a microphone (to sense blowing), force-sensor (to sense cheersing/shattering) and a small keyboard (to entertain the hands). But since pictures speak 1,000 words and Flash video speaks...well there are estimates ranging from 10,000 to -208...we have gameplay footage for you after the jump. More »

GTA IV Rumored Intro: Real or Fake?

Alright, well, this had me last night, but now I am not so sure. And while I was dithering over whether the video here is in fact real, or a fake, I missed out on an actual leak of an actual trailer for the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars. And it was taken down from YouTube before I could save the video.

But this has been up for a solid two days, Rockstar hasn't demanded it be taken down (could they? I dunno) and the comments on its YouTube page point out a zillion problems with it. But what do they know? It is time for Kotakopolis to pass judgment: Is this real or is this fake? You make the call! Vote after the jump.

Samus, Unreal Tournament III's Newest Contender

After transplanting Master Chief from his warm, green home on the Xbox 360 to the PlayStation 3, it was hard to imagine a greater iconoclastic modder offense...but one may have just happened. The newest entrant to the UTIII unlicensed mods club is this Samus Aran skin. Play Metroid, kinda, on your PS3!

As Microsoft explained before, there's nothing illegal about creating or downloading such mods. But that doesn't mean Epic will pay you $1,000,000 for one. Their Make Something Unreal Contest bans the use of "third party intellectual property, including, but not limited to software, images, characters, logos, names and trademarks." Still, some pranks are so good, they're worth the free work.

Why Microsoft Murdered The Marvel MMO

The rumors are true. Marvel Universe Online as gone the way of True Fantasy Live Online, another Microsoft MMO project killed before ever seeing the light of day. MTV Multiplayer's Stephen Totilo spoke with Microsoft Game Studios' head Shane Kim, who confirmed the cancellation of the highly anticipated title and explained why it had to die.

When we first entered into the development and agreement of the development of 'Marvel Universe Online,' we thought we would create another subscription-based MMO. And if you really look at the data there's basically one that's successful and everything else wouldn't meet our level or definition of commercial success.
Wow. Yeah, so basically Kim explains that they had gone too far to change the pricing structure into something more likely to bring money in, such as item and transaction-based models, so they let the project die. Hit up the rest of Totilo's story to see him pump Kim for information on Fable 2, Alan Wake, and the future of Halo while I go mourn the official loss of MUO.

The Xbox 360 And The Killer Sofa

I really love it when you guys do all the research for us. DC area Kotakuite Billkwando saw a version of the above advertisement on the side of a bus while making his way around town, only in Spanish with the heading, "El Sofa Asesino", which of course translates into "Awesome name for a luchador." While I understand that The Health Care System Foundation, who created this advertisement, would have to go to the trouble of photoshopping the Xbox 360 into a more nondescript form and have the child holding a wired controller that isn't technically plugged into anything, there are a few things I don't understand. For instance, why pick such an overweight child for a model, and Killer Sofa?Come on. I mean, it certainly is a nice sofa, and it looks comfortable, but I wouldn't call it a Killer Sofa. Nice sofa maybe. Not killer.

Live-Action Dragon Ball Z

Off the top of our collective heads, we could rattle off 20 or so anime that would make great live-action films. Dragon Ball Z is not one of them. DBZ isn't even in the top fifty. Or the top hundred. Dragon Ball works great as a manga, a cartoon and a game — but no way in hell should it be turned into a live-action movie. Too late! It's happening!! 20th Century Fox has lost any and all sense and has greenlit a US $100 million big screen version. The movie will shoot in Montreal next year, wrapping in July. That means there is still time to convince Fox this is a truly doofus of them.

Make Love Not Warcraft Commentary

Gamers take note the South Park Tenth Season DVD pack hits stores on Aug. 21. The season features both the Make Love not Warcraft episode and the two-episode story featuring both the creators' take on atheism and their craving for the Wii.

The South Park gang was kind enough to shoot us this exclusive early look at some of the commentary included in the Make Love Not Warcraft episode. I also had a chance to watch through the gaming episodes and listen to the commentary. Pretty interesting stuff in there.

The Littlest Chocobo

Busty Booth Babes vs homemade costumes aside, I think even Mr. Mc Whertor will have to agree that this is just about the cutest thing seen on the Comic Con floor. No doubt this is a store bought costume, but it doesn't take any points of the cuteness factor. Chocobo costume + baby=WIN!

The Banjo Kazooie Cake Makes My Teeth Hurt

Kotakuite MrMessyHair (my new favorite handle) sends in this Banjo Kazooie cake lovingly crafted by hand by his sister for his birthday. It took a few minutes for my bleary mind to wrap itself around what it was seeing, but once it did it was awesome. It was kind of like looking at one of those pictures that is all dots until you look past it and then you see the clipper ship. Well done, especially for a hand made job, but all that sparkly sugar makes me want to go brush my teeth at least three times.

Assassin's Creed Short Film Contest

Break out your white cloak and your video camera, it's time for another whacky funtime video game related short film contest. This time it's from Ubisoft and IFC, and the subject is Assassin's Creed. In six minutes or less, explore the many mysteries of Assassin's Creed, providing your own interpretation of the mysteries surrounding the title. What is the mysterious white room? Is it time travel? Why would they meddle in the flow of history? Will Jade Raymond make out with me so I can win a $10 bet I have with Plunkett? I'll split it. More »

HD Guile Gets A(nother) Makeover

Capcom has been slowly releasing artwork of the new character designs for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (Hey, Capcom, can we get a longer name for this?). This week it was Guile's turn up at bat and according to 1Up, reactions were mixed at best. Comments on both 1ups coverage of the art and on Capcom's own blog were both negative and positive with an accent on the negative. Capcom is now saying that they will be redesigning the look of the character based on those comments and while they said not all suggestions were being considered, there were no real details on what would be changed. how to make a fun game boring

Clip: How To Beat Donkey Kong

Game walkthroughs have been around since time immemorial. This clip comes from a 1982 video entitled How To Beat Home Video Games - Vol. 3 Arcade Quality for The Home by Vestron. Donkey Kong isn't a game I would think about needing a walkthrough for, but I suppose some people were really uncoordinated in the eighties. The description of the ColecoVision is hilarious, but the announcer manages to suck all the fun out of DK by his montone droning of instructions. And be sure to look for the invaluable tip at the end, I'm sure it's something you never thought of...

Xbox 360 Prices May Be Cut by Christmas

Microsoft is starting to realize that it's going to take a lot more than a couple of pinatas to expand their Xbox audience. Worried that the 360 will get "pigeonholed as a hard-core machine", Microsoft is looking at this holiday season to see what can be done. Though he declined to say for sure whether or not Microsoft will reduce the cost of the Xbox 360, David Hufford (a director of Xbox product management), sees the potential for making it more affordable for the consumer: More »

Bethesda Counts Down To "Please Stand By"

Thirty-four days ago, Bethesda began a countdown for its upcoming RPG Fallout 3. And what did this huge build up count down to? A screen that says "Stand By." Why? Probably a gazillion people clicking "refresh" in unison. More »

Mega Man Music Pain!

Video game music cover bands are a dime a dozen. Regurgitating NES tunes with the standard guitar-bass-drums set up was cute when the Advantage and the Minibosses did it, but now, now it's just bordering on sad. That's why when someone writes rapid-fire lyrics and actually sings the melody from a Mega Man jam, it stands out. Sure, the singer may have a voice as good as mine (pure rubbish), but it's the enthusiasm that matters. If you really want the MP3, you can grab the song, a take on the Mega Man 2 theme titled Okkusen Man, here. More »

Alone in the Dark Gets A "Hollywood" Writer

Atari just got a New York Times best-selling author to write for their upcoming game. The next installment in the Alone in the Dark series will reveal Edward Carnby's new horrific adventures in New York, something the author, Lorenzo Caracaterra, knows all to well having already worked as a writer and producer for Law & Order. Cacaterra has also written several books including Sleepers, Apaches, Gangster, Street Boys, and A Safe Place. I'm sure he will do the five burroughs proud, but for both of their sake's, let's just hope Atari can too. More »
