Maybe if he had run over 3 old ladies and a hooker, then you could assume it was GTA. But the way he took those corners, I'd say it was Forza 2 and he had a wheel. They should be thankful that the game prepped him to drive so well.

Must they be so quick to blame video games? Seriously, a video game doesn't teach you that you have to push in the break petal before you can change from park to reverse/drive, nor does it teach you how to disengage the hand break, or even how to start the car itself.

The boy obviously paid close attention to how his parents operated the car, otherwise he probably would never have made it out of the driveway.

Instead of blaming video games, blame the parents for keeping their car keys in a place where he both knew where to find them and could easily access them.

When I was two I hijacked my parents car and drove it into oncoming traffic. This leads to three important points about my character.

1) I am highly impressionable by video games.
2) I can predict future video games.
3) I have always been awesome.

If Fox news is going to blame a GTA for provoking a kid to drive a car... then they have to accept responsibility for the recent shootings in Pittsburgh, D.C., and Texas which have left dozens dead and wounded. All of the shooters were right wing extremists and two of them watched and listened to Glen Beck 24/7. In court, you'd have an easier time proving Fox News and Glen Beck provoked the shootings than you would proving GTA had anything to do with a kid taking off in a car!

The only reason GTA gets blamed, is because it's already such a big name, I bet you this lady reporting doesn't even know any other game names, racing or otherwise, it's no surprise that GTA gets all the blame really...

Preston Scarborough? Preston Scarborough, really? The poor child, it's not surprising that he stole a car as that isn't a name its a day out!
I can sympathize, my brother and I never stole a car, but that was probably because the sunday school was only 200 Metres away from where I lived. In order to ensure we got there though we did have the headmaster and assistant headmaster walking either side of us.Luckily my parents realised after a while that there was no way that they we were going to give up our atheism,(I was about the same age as this kid) and we didn't have to go anymore.

Ha! You can't fool me this time, ignorant media!

I was watching the Today Show on Friday (I never watch it, actually. The local news had a ticker for severe weather and I was watching that, intently hoping that I didn't have to show up for my Calc class) and they passed this little tidbit. They then interviewed the parents and the kid and both parties said that he played a lot of racing games, many of which are rated E. Then the parents said that they threw the games away, at which point I thought "WTF, parents? You don't throw video games away! The worst you do is sell them!"

But I digress. It was NOT GTA or some crazy-ass M-rated game. It was a set of racing games that he used to play. How the kid got the keys and was able to drive off without anybody noticing is what is suspicious, NOT the video games.

As a kid, I used to make "cars" out of cardboard boxes. Paper plate for wheel, construction paper and crayon for the rest. I'd also sit in the car when it was parked, and turn the wheel and pretend to drive, put on the blinkers, etc. I probably had an even better view of Mom's driving b/c back then kids sat in the front seat if there was only one of you. I'd watch the speedometer and such.

I never took it for a spin (I am short and cars back then were GIANT), but would they have banned cardboard boxes if I had? Or Fisher-Price My First Steering Wheel? Or Mom explaining the gauges to me?

Nope, I'd have gotten a spanking, been grounded for about a year, and certainly wouldn't have had the fun of going on TV.
