I would appreciate a simple faceplate that matched the skins you could get on your guns. I probably wouldn't buy it, but it's a better idea than this. #modernwarfare2controllerfaceplate
Which was more comfortable, the 360 or PS3 controller, and how do their ergonomics compare with their original, first party counterparts? #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
One adds flares to the side of the road to indicate a road hazard.
One adds flair to an accessory to personalize it and distinguish it stylistically from other things.
C'mon Crecente, is this your secret way of saying "Kotaku is hiring copy editors," by mispelling the same word twice in nearly identical reviews? #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
Don't get me wrong, I like Kotaku and I really like Kotaku reviews. But do we really need to have a review for every single MW2 related product out there? #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@CockroachMan: i think its kinda interesting to see how big the difference is between the Xbox controller and the PS3 controller, especially after Activision's treat to drop Sony. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@IvanTheOcean: Owen's got that review coming up. Stay tuned - you'll find that Modern Warfare DOES in fact extend into the bedroom. You don't even have to put your silencer on. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
Really? I was actually going to pick this up.
I'll pick up another official PS3 headset (I have one for my PS3 but I'm wanting a second headset to keep in my car).
I thought this'd be just as comfortable as the PS3 one as phone ones dont sit right on my ear. #modernwarfare2combatwirelessheadset
@Blore07:
How's the official PS3 one? I've been meaning to get a mic for the PS3 for ages but i've heard mixed views on the official mic. #modernwarfare2combatwirelessheadset
For those who dislike in-ear designs.
I'd recommend the Logitech Vantage.
Had it for about a year now,
Loved:
+it just loops round your head, no cramming it in your ear, and means you can fit some ear buds under it.
+The boom swivels, so it fits most mouth sizes
+Quite easy to use(pretty much just got one button rocker)
+charges off mini-USB like the PS3 controllers do.
Hated:
-You can't wear this outside, ever. Not that bluetooth headsets ever looked okay in public anyway.
-The button is a bit fiddly to turn on. you need to keep it dead centred. #modernwarfare2combatwirelessheadset

wait wait wait... You wear TWO headphones simultaneously?? Awesome XD. I would've just turned on a normal speakered system if i really wanted to listen to music and talk on the mic. It's an incredible idea though :) #modernwarfare2combatwirelessheadset
@TidalC: I've yet to get PS3 surround sound (poor student), so I sue headphones in an FPS so I can get some directionality ( TV speakers aren't much use for that) #modernwarfare2combatwirelessheadset
I actually prefer the wired 360 controllers since if you want to use them on PC they don't require a hideously expensive adaptor. Plus unless you invest even more money in a play and charge kit you're stuck playing the battery game.
I think Sony got it the best way this generation. I can have it wireless when I want it wireless and plug it in to charge while I play with a standard mini USB cable. I can even plug it straight into my PC, the only downside is there's no official drivers so it's a bit tricky.
The Wii isn't too bad, while you lack any sort of play and charge facility the battery life you get is pretty good. Interfacing with a PC is also pretty easy as you just need a bluetooth adaptor.
While I have no issue with the controller itself (indeed this rant is not about the controls per se) the wireless pad is pretty awful in some ways. Battery life I've found to be widely variable, sometimes good and sometimes you can burn through a decent pair of batteries in no time. Plus I've found the controller behaves a lot more erratic than other console controllers when it's low on juice. Not to mention that should you want to do anything else with it you need a seperately sold accessory.
Play and charge? Buy a wire and battery pack! Use it on your PC? Buy this expensive single purpose adaptor!
The wired controller while it lacks the wireless at least has straightforward PC compatibility and a secure power supply going for it.
Also you should remember the reason this isn't wireless is because MS are too arsey to let anyone else behind their wireless unless you make plastic instruments. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@Odin: WiiMote battery life it terrible. and you can't plug the 360 play-and-charge kit into a computer to play it you still need to buy the 360 wireless adapter to plug into your computer.
@Assassin_Kensei:
I never said you could plug the 360 play and charge kit into the PC to play. If you could that would actually be better than the wireless adaptor. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@Guyver4:
There will be drivers of some form or another though. Whether Mad Catz release their own or someone writes a set. Sony doesn't support usage of the DS3 on a PC and yet you can get drivers for it. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@Odin: true, its the pc crowd anything is possible! :) I was just thinking of right out the box, and I'd be surprised if madcatz does... #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
Wireless is the only way to go for me. The only time I'll put up with wired is when I'm playing Rock Band 2 but that's a given. Mad Cats could've put more effort into the camo instead of giving it the pixel treatment.
Are there plans to release a wireless version? I could spring for that one for sure. I heard something about Microsoft giving them shit for trying to go wireless. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@Dr Durdon: MS doesn't let anyone use their wireless technology (besides music periferals). They keep it proprietary so no one can directly challenge them on wireless accessories, which results in MS being able to charge whatever they want for wireless anything. I'm not hating, it's just good business sense. They might open wireless up to 3rd parties later in the lifecycle when profits start declining and their attention is focussed on the next next gen console. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@TheOmnitron: I'm thinking the same thing. But honestly, why bother replacing the 360 controller at all? It's pretty damn good for shooters already. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@subnet6: Not when you have to turn with the right stick and press a button at the same time. Trying to run while aiming in GTA sucks. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@subnet6: oh yeah, that just happened. And I agree with you; I think that the 360 controller has a far better feel for shooters than it's competitors. However, I don't care for it when it comes to fighting games... for that, I use the PS3 controller, or a joystick (but I prefer the PS3 version). #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@subnet6: My one gripe with the 360 controller is that the analogue sticks get loose rather quickly. Being able to move the analogue about an eighth of an inch in any direction without it registering any input can make headshots almost impossible. Anyone know if Madcatz controllers hold up any better in that regard? #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
@Ignominus: Its interesting you mention that because I had similar problems with the N64 analog, but I've not seen it so far on the 360. Admittedly, I don't play a TON of shooters online so I'm not a big headshot kind of guy, but I play a metric shit ton of geometry wars which is absolutely destructive to the analogs and mine are still in pretty good shape. #modernwarfare2combatcontroller
