...I begged my parents to "rent one" from the local mom n' pop video store, $100 credit card deposit and all. The weekend was shaping up to be pretty sweet, then I realized how bad those games all blew chunks.
It was like finding out Santa preferred sugar-free cookies at my house because my dad has diabeehtus.

Also, you guys are both right about Betamax. Consumer tapes were smaller than VHS, but the ones used in TV production (to this day, I believe) are absolutely HUGE. Bigger than a Neo Geo cartridge.

Lets get some more arcade perfect ports of other light gun games. I don't care how cheesy they might have been.

I've always been a big fan of Dragon's Lair. These days you can pick up a copy of Dragon's Lair (also Dragon's Lair II, Space Ace, and Thayer's Quest) legitimately as a DVD that you can "play" through with your standard DVD player remote. Whilst it's not perfect (because there's nothing in the DVD menu script protocols to allow for random ordering of video sequences), once you've got the DVD you can then - again, legitimately - import the animations from the disk onto your hard drive and use the freeware DAPHNE emulator to have perfect emulation on your PC. Your own Dragon's Lair machine, and actually legal :)

Not exactly.
We're talking about arcade machines that read animation off a laserdisc.
