LucasArts' Rereleases Classics on Steam |

Oh, wait. Steam wants a Japanese credit card. Which credit card I'm denied de facto because I'm a foreigner. Steam sees my IP and refuses a non-Japanese card. Dammit, how can I reconnect with my sweet english-language youth if I'm marooned in a land Steam demands I attain an unattainable credit card from?

And for those who want MORE games, this list is part one. it's just a few guys who have to remake these for modern systems! More to come!
so,the games you are missing(Tie Fighter etc) may still be on their way

I really want to get a fuss-free copy of the original for various friends of mine who somehow missed it back in the day, but I don't want a penny of my money going to the bastards who remade it into a hideous Candyland-with-a-technicolor-lobotomy abomination.
I don't usually mind crappy remakes and bad sequels, but those rotten monstertruckers took a dump on something I loved here. The way Guybrush looked in the pointlessly 3D fourth episode was bad enough, but this is intolerable.

While these ten titles are straight ports - so no Steam Achievements, and no fancy new graphics and sound a la Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition - LucasArts is considering enhanced versions of other titles, though "a lot of it will ultimately depend on the commercial success of Monkey Island Special Edition," we're told. "We have the plans in our back pocket and if things go extremely well, we'll roll out those plans and put them into action. Whether it's Maniac, Day of the Tentacle, or Grim." And those releases may come to other digital distribution platforms - much of that strategy will be determined by the success of this latest initiative.

I was late to the PC gaming world, having been raised with a SNES. I played what I could (Grim Fandango, Monkey Islands) but I haven't played LOOM or The Dig, despite how many people have loved them for decades. I appreciate publishers giving me a second chance to see what made these titles such a big deal.
