@sentroshi: I liked them so much that i would recomend you to buy both... and play them in order, because they progress very smoothly plaid together.
If you only have money for one, buy the second, as it is better, but then if you like it enough to want the first one you are not gonna enjoy it as much, as all the powers you have from the start in the second chapter, you have to earn them on the first.
Another thing, the game is beautiful, and plays really well, but is not very challenging... is more of a relaxing platformer, were you can explore the world and enjoy the scenery, the characters and try to reach places, more than avoiding danjer and fighting enemies. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
This was such a wonderful game, how i loved it the full four hours of it. I don't exactly like that the game is that short, but the gameplay, music, artstyle, graphics and everything in between were such a great acomplishment, that it was completly worth the asking price.
The only part that i din't like was one that was my fault, skipping the drill tutorial accidentally and then suffering trying to pull it of! #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
Truly a masterpiece only possible on the Wii(mote) and digital downloads (in the way of making a game that has to maximise it's 40 megabytes limit). It has the briliance of both old games in design and fresh new ideas only possible by the Wiimote pointer. Well done, Frontier, now give me a Elite remake so I can go to the stars again. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
I'm disconcerted by the fact that there were only pros and no cons in this review. Sure, I love this game, but it's not PERFECT. How about at least saying, "Short amount of time for a full game."? #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@Y-bot: The amount of time spent is irrelevant in the face of the amount of fun one has with it. Basing the decision to purchase on how long a game is is not a good idea. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@Ueziel: Depends on your specific gamer needs, doesn't it? See, when WKC finally hits i know i'm getting a lengthy, albeit somewhat mediocre (heard), game. The fact that it's a game i can potentially play for a full month really attracts me.
It's why i bought Sacred 2, and I know i'm definitely not the only one who purchases (mainly rpg) games based also on singleplayer length.
@D-K, a burning sensation: That's way too personal of a thing to even bring up in a review. If you use that as a measurement, fine, but I know I never would because it's pretty foolish. It's nice that a game can take you a while as a side thing, but it's hardly a reason for purchasing anything.
Just saying, "I'm buying this because it's long" and not knowing if you actually would enjoy it that much is pretty dumb though. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@D-K, a burning sensation: Do you judge a book based on it's price over length value? A movie? Music? It's irrelevant to reviewing the work. Unless you want to place games in the same reviewing categories as fridges and toasters.
The fact that the game is only $10 for 4 hours is fair considering people buy AAA games for $60 that have less than 20 hours of playtime. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@Y-bot: "In fact, if it weren't for LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias' short length (about 4-6 hours), you'd easily forget this one came from the WiiWare channel, and not your local EB Games. "
He/she did say it. It's just that's not a cons to him/her.
That's why I always says "respect the reviewer's respective, but treat the review with your own one". You don't blindly follow the reviewer, but that doesn't mean you refuse to understand their point of view. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@Y-bot: This was a Micro Review, which means that they only do three bullet points. All Pros just means that the three good things listed were more important than any bad things. #lostwindswinterofthemelodias
@excel_excel:
Yeah, what the hell happened to that? Wasn't it supposed to come out this fall? I see it listed at GameSpot for Q4 2009 which just ended... #wiiware
I believe that WiiWare now needs a creationist/intelligent design shooter. It is not fair that our children only will shoot things from one side of the debate.
It appears that Nintendo is pulling minigames out of GBA games and putting them on DSiWare again. These all look like the minigames from Domo-Kun no Fushigi Terebi.
I'll buy (some) of them anyway, but it's a cheap tactic. #wiiware
I still have my DSi's free points, I've looked at a few bits of software and been tempted but what I really want is a simple diary/address book app for it. I know that it's probably not going to be that popular but the dsi would be ideal, a stylus for input an SD card for backup and small enough so that most people carry it around with them all the time.
The maps and dictionary apps that turned up really gave me hope that somebody would be working on this, I mean it can't be that hard to programme surely?

@Weirdwolf Is Restared To Glory!: Shouldn't be too hard to program, but it's unlikely that somebody would do it if it won't be successful. You need a DSi dev kit to make DSiWare, and that's not cheap. #wiiware
It's a shame because while all three companies tout their "mini-games" capability as a way of smaller companies getting stuff that wouldn't normally seen released into the public eye it seems that there are still some significant problems for the people trying to do that.
.... Wow, I'm surprised that in 1986, people thought we'd see apocalypse within the next 15 years? at least Megaman made it 200X .... though we're rapidly approaching that deadline too... #wiiware
@Agent.AealapytsaNotxap(NotASpy): Naw, I like to interpret Mega Man's date as a poorly-thought-out way of saying the year 20010. That way it gives us another 18,001 years before our inevitable robotic apocalypse (or robocalypse for short). #wiiware
@Agent.AealapytsaNotxap(NotASpy): Really, you must have missed all the movies and games which had the world ending and crazy future stuff happening by the year 2000. #wiiware
@Agent.AealapytsaNotxap(NotASpy): Don't forget it's only 92 more years before all our base are belong to Cats. Let us hope we will be prepared to take off every Zig for great justice. #wiiware
The first one did a great job kicking off WiiWare, and gave me hope that small developers would find creativity and originality in the games developed for the service.
Sadly, that hope has since been shot, ran over, and left for dead.
Seeing a sequel to that first wonderful game is the eyelid flutter of the coma that is my hope for WiiWare.
@aw3str1k3r: BIT.TRIP BEAT, Swords & Soldiers, BIT.TRIP CORE, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord, and NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits would like to say "hello." :)
And those are just from 2009 (culled from a list of ~20 that I believe are interesting enough to those who follow sites like this one).
