I breifly played lost planet on ps3, I'm not sure how it was for others, but I felt the characters/cutscene style reeeeally didnt fit in with the game.
played the demo for lost planet 2 the other day though, now THAT is going to be great, it reminded me a bit of PSO #onlyinjapan
@Showmeyomoves!: It's a special edition of extreme condition. It's got a few more MP maps, characters and weapons and a human vs akrid mode . #onlyinjapan
@Ash Crimson: Considering what you pay, and this "With those two versions of the same game, they even split the community" you're pretty much up a canal with a gaping hole in the boat and nothing but an annoying turkey with a banjo...
The purchase of this bundle will eat away at your very soul...
Maybe you should do a little bit more reading about the Colonies edition? :P
Its got a few awesome features that make it was better than the original.
1) Its got all the multiplayer map DLC on the disc
2) It launched at a 29.99 price point, as if to spit in the eye of the Playstation 3 Lost Planet which was released three months previous with no Colonies content
3) Its one of the few games which you can play on Xbox Live without having a gold account (!!!!)
4) Its got PC/360 cross compat play, which means theres usually a few people kicking around on the PC or 360 side of things to jump into a game on either system. Yes, 360 players can play with PC players and vice versa.
5) It had a new graphics filter which made it look... snowier? As crazy as it sounds, its true
6) Little things here and there in the upgrade system for multiplayer
7) The ability to play as the big ass starship trooper bugs in multiplayer, which wasn't in the original
The colonies edition is pretty sweet, if you like the game. Especially point number 3, at least the poor Gold-less Xboxer can get his online multiplayer on. #onlyinjapan
Magic and pixies? I dunno. Probably something to do with the PC cross compatibility. All 360 games that let you play against the PC gamers have free online. Just trolls and fanboys always seem to miss that little nugget.
I can't see many other publishers doing it, since in itself, cross compat play is so rare (the only games I can think of that use it are Universe at War, Shadowrun and Lost Planet: Colonies). #onlyinjapan
But it was nice while it lasted. Hey, I guess its still nice that because the PC and 360 players are all in one place, you've got a better chance at still finding people playing (actually, I've noticed the lobbies are always crammed with Japanese people) all this time after it came out. #onlyinjapan
