How's Lost Planet Colonies Lookin'?

Don't know why Capcom bothered with all these. There's 14 shots of Lost Planet: Colonies here, and they really only needed to send one, because when you show Frank West in naught but his Capcom-flavoured undies, we kinda get all distracted...

Lost Planet: Colonies Trailer

On the off chance you're still excited about this after learning it's just a spruced-up re-release of the budget line original, here's a trailer for Capcom's Lost Planet: Colonies. As you'd expect, both snow and battles against large monsters feature prominently.

Lost Planet Colonies Finally Announced

Capcom (may) have, via leaked mag scans, had the wraps taken off Lost Planet Colonies, the successor to snowy bug-killing simulator Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. What's new? There's a new playable character (that girl in snow gear) and in online play you'll get the option of playing as the bugs against the humans. That online play will feature cross-platform play between PCs and 360s. There's more weapons and more monsters to fight (including their eggs), and it'll be out in Japan on May 29. Oh, and no word of a PS3 release as of yet. Bear in mind: all this info comes courtesy of a leaked magazine scan that's been...modified to include super-awesome Xbox Japan boss Takashi Sensui, so until we get some more concrete info, take it all with a grain of salt.

Lost Planet Colonies Rears Its Head Again

Capcom's Lost Planet Colonies, trademarked by the publisher last Spring, has just been rated by the ESRB with a T rating for the Xbox 360 and PC. That's right, PlayStation 3 owners, you may have to settle for the port of the former 360 exclusive for the time being. Even though Capcom has made no definitive announcements about a follow up to the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, execs have said "there will be more on Lost Planet for sure."

When contacted for comment, Capcom reps simply replied "Stay Tuned." Well, to be perfectly precise, they replied "stay_tuned.jpg." With GDC and a Capcom Gamers Day coming soon, we won't be surprised when Capcom announces something about Colonies.

Capcom Trademarks Lost Planet Colonies

What does Capcom have planned for the future of its Lost Planet franchise? Plenty. According to Capcom's director of marketing Jack Symon, "There will be more on Lost Planet, for sure." Already a hit on the Xbox 360, with a PC port in the works and mobile phone version, Trag Zero, released late last year, it's clear Lost Planet isn't going to be a one-off for Capcom. More »
