If they cancelled the sequel to Symphony of the Night that they announced at TGS last year to do this, I might cry. SotN is one of my favorite games ever, and I would kill for a real sequel.
That being said, though, Igarashi's contributions to the series as of late have been losing their shine...Judgment was a total aberration, and Order of Ecclesia was far too difficult to be fun. Maybe Hideo could help make the franchise into something truly great again...
I'll be following this intently to see what happens, though I'm assuming this would be a more likely announcement for Konami's presser on Wednesday than for Sony's tomorrow; they'll likely focus on MGS Rising and MGS Peace Walker instead.
@konexile: I didn't have anything against Shanoa, the game was just unforgiving in terms of difficulty, and I really got tired of dying 15 times while trying to explore the world; it was too much like the NES games and not enough like SotN for my liking. =/
Order of Ecclesia wasn't that hard overall and the few spikes in difficulty didn't detract from the experience, they added to it. I could play the first 5 or 6 levels of Battletoads over and over, just to die at the same spot. To beat Ninja Gaiden, I ended up playing through the entire last level 30 or 40 times before I beat the last boss. It feels that much better to win when you put in that much more effort.
I mean, from the guy who talks about how awesome Demons souls is all the time, I wouldn't expect a comment like that. I'm really surprised.
@CaptLtrl: Demon's Souls is hard, but fair. Ecclesia just drove me to madness because it kept pitting you against enemies who could kill you in two or three hits, while you had to hit them 20 or 30 times just to kill them. It wasn't fun. Not to mention in Demon's Souls when you die you keep your progress. In Ecclesia if you die, you have to start over, which means the progression is a lot harder and a lot harsher.
I beat Dracula X Chronicles. I couldn't beat Ecclesia. That's saying something.
blah.. please dont hate on me guys.. but ive never been a huge metal gear fan at all. ive tried.. but i dunno.. its just not appealing to me.
oddly enough, my favorite thing kojimas name is tied to is the snatchers/policenauts series. id LOVE For them to do a cel shaded wii game in that series.. i mean adventure games on any other console would be kinda lame, and i loved zack and wiki.
I'm almost certain that PSW is talking about Lords of Shadow from Konami. Check out the character image from this blog: [www.lordsofshadow.com] versus the silhouette from the mag......they're the same character.
@postcards: A Castlevania made by Kojima would be a very interesting thing indeed. I'm not even sure if I'd like it, but I'd like to see it all the same, just to see how it works out.

@Dangeresque Wants to Take You For a Ride: I love how this has nothing to do with the first post in this thread. I wish Kotaku would go back to its old comment format.
@BlueWizard422: "Come on, DINGO!" Great game, but this particular quote comes from a massively tedious boss fight. Must have had that creepy bastard shout that at me a dozen times....

@Archaotic: I couldn't imagine them developing more than one game at a time. I'm assuming the games are the same thing, and that they're pulling all of your legs into thinking it's going to be Metal Gear Solid 5.
I personally have thought it to be their "Project S" all this time.
Kojima's stated personally that Kojima Productions is working on two games right now. One's a smaller project "more along the lines of what [they] usually do", and the other one, which will be announced much later on this year, is being done with a restructured KojiPro, aimed more towards Western audiences.
If you go to PS3, it says under 2009, 'Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots The Best'. I have no idea what 'The Best' means. It might be just an assumption by the editor of the article.
Also under Xbox 360, it says Lords of Shadow. I had previously checked this development out before (around the time that the Kojima: NEXT teaser came out). Here is what I found: [www.lordsofshadow.com]
"The Best" just means the greatest hits version of the game in Japan. Lords of Shadow is on both systems, as far as I remember. Looks to be a Castlevania ripoff, which is odd considering Castlevania's made by Konami too.

How else can we get a character's story for a few GBs, and weather patterns and monkey sounds for the 38 GBs? That takes time!

Ecclesia wasn't THAT hard, aside from the arena area. Just need to memorize patterns, just like old times.

Screw the DS, make a 1080p Metroidvania for the 360 and PS3.

a. have the info
b. give it away nearly this easily
instead they are just using this character because
a. no one really knows / cares about this game at the moment (no offense; sure it's a lovely game)
b. they have to use something for a teaser silhouette

No, but Kojima IS a big man on campus at Konami. He could conceivably be PRODUCING it without actually having KojiPro develop the game.
I hear he has his hands in a BUNCH of games now.
