BTW, guys, I said *2009* games. There are like a bazillion good games for break ups spanning decades (my personal favorite still being the original MGS/Twin Snakes -- or FFX-2, depending on who left whom and how hard I want to 100% the latter). Anyone got anymore?

God of War or something mind numbing like Dynasty Warriors is what I play to go through any bad day. When I broke up with the last girl I was with though, I went out with friends and was binge drinking to - er - clear my head :/

I did play a game I bought 4 days prior to that breakup though and it was Bully. I forgot about her ever since... DAMMIT CAROL WHY?????!!!!! T______T *hugs conveniently placed teddy bear*

Well, my breakup game was Metal Gear 4.

Two days before the most anticipated game of all time was released, my fiance, who I had been seeing for nearly three years decided she was tired of putting up with foreigner, and decided to dump my ass.

I dove headfirst into MGS4, thinking that after waiting for years, it would ease some of the pain....it didn't. As a matter of fact, I now associate nothing but negative memories to that game. Whenever I fire it up and try to pay through it again, I just remember the absolute devastation and heartbreak I was feeling while playing.

Looking back....it was like a weird fever dream...what was going on in my life, and what was going on in the game didn't make any sense.

While I wouldn't call women 'cold, soulless, heartless creatures', I think a lot of the time the don't really realize just how devastated we are after a relationship.

Its been nearly a year since my fiance left me, and I am still down in the dumps.

Whats a conventional excuse for a break up coming from a women? 'We've drifted apart, You aren't interested in me anymore, we don't talk anymore, I've found someone else...'

But when the person who you love most in the world says to you 'I don't want to be with you anymore because you are from a different country'....my friend, let me tell you....the wounds those words cause DO NOT go away easily. I feel as if I get into another relationship with a Japanese girl, that the EXACT SAME THING is going to happen.

When my girlfriend ditched me I subscribed to LOTRO.

Nothing kills newly acquired free time and lingering depression better than an addicting MMO.

It was either that or take up alcoholism and drugs.

@TaylorEatWorld has PopPop in the attic: On the 360 version you can equip your Chinese Stealth Armor prior to a fast travel. I wouldn't call that "fixing the issue," but it makes the game infinitely more relaxing. I play Fallout for the scrounging and exploring. If I want to yell at something, I play Ninja Gaiden.

@Boxworth: Additionally, I know we beat this issue TO DEATH and back again in many forums, but unless it's a fighting game (and you don't own an arcade stick), a PS3 exclusive, or a game you desperately want to play with a PS3 owner, buy the 360 version. Developers seem to abandon their PS3 versions for some reason (TF2? Fallout 3? GTA4? Hell, I bet Kojima comes up with something playable for MGS:R Multiplayer now that it's coming to 360!).

Dead Space is simply one of those fantastic gems that defied common game business practices to make its way into your hands. It is incredibly clever and by far the best sounding game I've ever played. SOMEone over there deserves a bj for that game's sound design and, honestly, maybe the exec that kept it from getting axed.

These guys were smart enough not to deviate too far from modern gaming conventions, so it is both at once familiar and unfamiliar. Yes, it's an over-the-shoulder shooter, but the focus is on dismemberment instead of headshots. Yes, it's a space horror theme, but they told a story relatively new, crafting it around stuff that's come before. It's solidly designed and didn't require a major gimmick. For all the Stranger's Wraths, BG&Es, and other unnoticed gems, I'm glad Dead Space broke through the sea of FPS/duck-and-cover games.

You know this is another huge reason I don't like Dead Space. Instead of focusing on creating a game that shifted us back towards actual survival horror, they focus on things like color scheme, lighting, and design. I mean...come on, these are not the crowning jewels of horror design. If people creating horror media had a bad habit of throwing in neon pinks, hearts, and care bears, grim colors bad lighting and "gothic" architecture are very odd places to start your lynchpins for scares.

I'm just saying, I think they moved way far away from fundamentals and stretched too far into what should have been examined at the polishing/crunch stage.

I think this game is one of the most overrated, and I don't get why everyone is putting it on such a massive pedestal. Sure, they had a cool collection of really "man, that's kinda tense" pieces, but nothing came together to feel unified, and the amount of innovating their IP allowed went so unfulfilled it's not even funny.

Haven't played it but heard very good things about it.

It's weird and refreshing at the same time to see EA striving to develop new IPs. I mean, sure they'll release yearly sequels or whatever until the well runs dry but that just comes around to having more funding to develop new IPs.

It's like a more whorish diagram of the egg and chicken thing.
