Looks like we won't have to wait another 6 years for the next chapter in the excellent Longest Journey series, as the Norwegian Film Fund has awarded developer Funcom a grant to finance R&D for the 'Dreamfall Chapters', an episodic continuation of the Longest Journey storyline to be released via online delivery. We don't understand Norway's panoply of bork bork phonemes, so we can't confirm this directly, but according to Evil Avatar, Norwegian website IT-Avisen has an interview with Ragnar Tornquist in which he claims that the sequel to Dreamfall (and, by extension, The Longest Journey) is already in the works! Heterosexuality firmly in check, I was one of those guys who actually really dug The Longest Journey. That I could play it without confirming all my girlfriend's suspicions about the bloodthirsty misogynism of men was a plus: instead of doing what she normally did when I played games — make exasperated sighing noises and having loud discussions on the telephone with her mother about her being right that I wasn't the marrying type — she actually played it with me. It was the perfect boyfriend/girlfriend game, if only because what self-respecting guy could figure out the early puzzle where you need to use a pair of pliers, an inflatable duck, a belt and a diaphragm to get a key out of a subway tunnel?
