This is the best list of good PSP games I have seen on teh internets so far:

    [anchan.an.ohost.de]

    Copy here:

    As for my recommendations:

    1. Lumines
    2. Wipeout Pure
    3. Burnout Legends
    4. God of War: Chains of Olympus
    5. Super Stardust Portable
    6. Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony
    7. Tekken Dark Resurrection
    8. Daxter
    9. Crush
    10. Mercury

Most of those are from early PSP era - and they still are the best there are. Which tells you a lot about PSP lineup, by the way.

Not sure if they all have PSPGo versions, though.

@Benny: What? Im not sure I understand how you phrased you question there.

I have 2 PSPs, and a ton of UMDs. The GO is a waste. Youre stuck only buying games from Sony's online store, and only paying the prices Sony dictates on the limited variety of games available. Why do that when you can have a regular PSP and buy used games or games on sale for cheap. Trade with friends and borrow their games. So much more flexibility

@Altima NEO: See, I had a 2000, but sold it to a friend. The GO was perfect for a technically new PSP owner such as myself. It's not meant for people looking to upgrade their current model, at least not yet. Plus, believe it or not, some of us actually prefer to buy games in a fashion where the original developers get money in their pockets, rather than Gamestop or whatever. Their prices might not be dirt cheap, but they're still pretty damn reasonable.

@Altima NEO: You have two PSPs too? Did you get the second one for the same reason as me? That is, so I could keep playing emulators on the first one and play new games on the second?

Of course, I got the first one for 60 bucks, so it wasn't like I bought two full priced systems.

Look, if you can't afford to buy games at prices "controlled" by Sony, what are you doing buying 3 PSP's? It's ok to buy used and cheap, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are wrong for buying games at full price.

@Altima NEO: Well I own the PSP2000 as well as the Go. The PSP2000 fits in my jeans pocket but makes me look like I am hung like a Tauren. The Go fits perfectly and works well as it was intended. Sure I may miss out on some games here and there on the Go, but here are my reasons why you should not dismiss the Go entirely:

-Ability to connect a bluetooth headset
-Ability to use a PS3 Sixaxis controller to revisit some old games.

Those in itself has made my PSP experience much better. The fact that I could use my own NON Sony branded bluetooth for Skype was excellent.

The PS3 controller paired with the Video cables allowed me to bring "Console" like gaming to a hotel room. I was able to play FF7 again like how I did 10 years ago.

Sure the Go has HUGE disadvantages... but think hard... the disadvantages that the Go has are all easily remedied if Sony just pulled their head out of the ass. Get what it takes to get all PSP games on the PSN, lower the retail price to be the same as the PSP3000 and drop the PSP3000 down a bit, and finally sell an accessory to play UMD discs.

@Benny: While I agree that it could be a good device if Sony got their heads in the game, I wouldn't say that Bluetooth capabilities make the Go worth buying. The PSPgo to me seems like a lightweight version of the PSP-3000 only, without many capabilities, such as the hundreds of games that are off-limits because Sony hasn't offered them in the PS Store yet or developers like Square Enix refuse to let Sony put them on there, having to rebuy old games you want to play that you already own the UMD for, the smaller screen size when the details call for a larger one, the lack of an analog stick which would make many games frustrating, etc. I have never seen a need to use a Bluetooth headset on the PSP, and I could only use a controller while at home, in which case I could just play my PS3 instead. If the PSPgo was CHEAPER than the PSP-3000, I'd understand it and promote it, but the fact that you're paying over $100 more when it lacks so very many things makes me agree with Altima NEO: Don't buy it. Save $100 and go with the PSP-3000.

@Jordan Bates: I agree with you since I only paid $152 for my PSP Go it was cheaper. I had a PSP2000 since the launch of it and it feels cheap and bulky... the PSP1000 that I played with felt much better. The PSP Go I believe adds more mobility to the mobile PSP.

Like I said for someone who doesn't want to carry around UMDs and just wants something quick to bring around the PSP Go delivers just that for a new user.

They should've added a touch screen to the system.

    Why?

Because it would've added a considerable feature to a portable system that already great as a gaming system, but sub-par as a PMP. Not on compatibility, or features, but on aesthetics.

Let's look at it this way. The iPhone and iTouch is already a great PMP. That was merely translated from what was done on the iPod. Now that the device has games and apps from their online store, it's becoming a big player in the gaming scene. But Apple still focused on what made the iTouch and iPhone great, and merely added games as a bonus. It's a PMP/phone first, and a gaming device second. I prefer actual buttons and joysticks to the icons that appear on the touch screen, and all titles have to compensate because of that. Hence, Apple games may not control as well, or as comfortably, compared to pure gaming systems.

Now for the PSPgo, it was already established as a great gaming system, and now with it's own app store, it's becoming an even better gaming system in the digital distribution age, but as a PMP, it's sadly still stuck in the yesteryear. I've tried the PSPgo, and I can tell you right now that it's functionality as a PMP will annoy the hell out of me, because I have to control everything through the front and shoulder buttons. That is not aesthetically pleasing.

With a touch screen, you could view movies and listen to music without having to open the system to access anything. This would've been a big boon for the PSP while still retaining it's main function as an actual gaming system. Plus, any new games for the PSPgo could use the touch screen for added functionality. Sony would have to just indicate whether games are exclusively developed with touch screen play in mind, while still being backwards compatible to regular PSP titles.

The design is a welcome change, but the lack of a touch screen is what made me forgo exchanging my old PSP when all I would get is a slider design and no UMD slot.

    What do you readers think?

Rumors have started circulating from Square's latest event that the new Kingdom Hearts won't even be available for the PSPgo. I can't imagine a worse sales pitch for the system: "Plays some of your favorite PSP games for only about $100 more!" Reminds me of the California State Universities at the moment.

I think Disney's just paranoid, or their contract was signed before the PSPgo was even concepted (hint: it was), and thus doesn't yet account for the new system. I doubt there's any malevolence intended. Just stupid corporate bullshit.

@andrewwyatt: Well I'll explain how a Fatalis run was back in the day when Gunlances and Bowguns didn't exist in the psp.
When the mightiest wyvern was the Rathalos and the deadliest dragon was the FATALIS!

Basically it'll feel like its taking forever, your inventory is full with all possible potion alchemy ingredients and an alchemy guide.

Its mostly hit and run.Along the way if you're on co-op there will be some really really tense moments.
Like you're teammate is really close to the mouth when suddenly Fatalis turns to him and lunges if someone doesn't entertain it ,quite possibly Fatalis won't miss and if it does a expect a tail slam.
Also someone will eventually yell FIREBALL! or ITS LANDING! or FUCK!!!!!.

But overall is the most fun and energetic run I've ever had on my psp.
Umm its kinda like a Tigrex the first time you face a Tigrex but the Tigrex falls short to the might of Fatalis.

But if you do manage to beat it the armor its ..freaking wicked,

    @tangerine: from Sony's website:

In 1982, Sony created a catchphrase and an additional logo to enhance the company's overall CI. When Morita was shown the design for this "S mark" logo, he thought that when people saw it for the first time, they would wonder what it represented. He reasoned that a brief, catchy description would be needed to explain the "S mark." The phrase he came up with was, "It's a Sony!" This, he believed, would add impact to the advertisement. Thereafter, all Sony TV commercials ended with the "S mark," followed by a voice-over saying, "It's a Sony!" This unique combination of picture and sound quickly became recognized around the world as a unique Sony trait.

I guess it's not recognized by everyone. #locorocomidnightcarnival
