Super Show!, Lou Albano passed away today at the age of 76.

Wrestling fans know him as the WWE Hall of Famer who managed more than 50 wrestlers in his day, with more than two dozen championships won by athletes taken under his wing. 80's music fans might remember him from his appearances in many Cyndi Lauper music videos, including "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "She Bop", "Time After Time" and "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough." As gamers, we of course remember him as the best live-action Mario of all time. That's not saying much when your chief competition is Bob Hoskins, but at least he was Italian. The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! might have only run a grand total of 52 episodes, but that was more than enough to cement Captain Lou's place in gaming history.

Mr. Albano suffered from a heart attack in 2005 and has been in failing health ever since. He was at home with his family under hospice care when he passed away.

<![CDATA[Fallout 2 As A Live-Action RPG]]> Last month, at a remote disused air-defense base outside of Leningrad, upwards of 300 Russian Fallout fans recreated post-apocalyptic California in a live-action role-playing game based on Fallout 2.

All of the information we have on the event is translated from Russian via Google, so it could be completely wrong. From we understand, a workshop group called Albion organized the event, securing the setting and providing technical, medical, and rescue support. Around 300 players participated, creating their own costumes and modifying fake weapons until they looked as if you just plucked them from a freshly-killed raider's hands. The game followed a basic plot, which the organizers would change on the fly according to how the players reacted.

Say what you will about live-action roleplaying, or LARPing, but this actually looks like a great deal of fun. Unfortunately it also looks like a lot of work, so you won't catch my lazy ass participating in something like this anytime soon. Hit up the link below for even more pictures.

Fallout 2009 «Ничто человеческое» [LiveJournal via Polygamia]

Nothing says post-apocalyptic like Leningrad.

Slavery is serious business.

Looks like box art, doesn't it?

Working headlights.

Just a pleasant stroll through the woods.

They completely nailed the atmosphere.

Free agent.

Probably just a guy they saw on the way to the game.

Post-apocalycious!

Please stand by.

Nice hair.

The Brotherhood.

Over the shoulder view.

Ew. Ew. Ew.

<![CDATA[Video of Live Action Pitfall!]]> Well, the video itself isn't that intense, but if you wanted to see what live-action Pitfall! looked like, reader Chris took three videos of the event.

The best sequences are ones requiring the rope swing; the rest of the time, you're looking at people with tiny vertical leaps, if not waiting contestants' backs. But thanks to Chris for giving us a look at it. It sounded cool.

Chris says his team finished with 24,000 points, 5,000 shy of the overall winner. "We were within striking distance the entire time." There are two more videos over on his blog post about it.

<![CDATA[Become The Next Duke Nukem]]> Duke Nukem Forever might be no more, but the Duke can live on through you, as Apogee and Deep Silver take the search for the next live-action Duke Nukem online.

Following the closure of Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms last week, Apogee's Chief Operating Officer Terry Nagy teased an impending Duke announcement via Twitter, leading many to believe the company had plans to pick up the dropped ball. Instead, Apogee and Deep Silver have announced that they are increasing the scope of their search for a live action Duke from a three-city search to a nationwide, internet-based operation. Fans can visit www.dukeisback.com and upload their audition video for consideration. The winner will travel around the world promoting the upcoming Duke Nukem Trilogy and generally making a fool of themselves.

There are several audition clips already uploaded, each one more sympathetically embarrassing than the next. Enjoy.

<![CDATA[Resident Evil 5 Viral Part Two: The Date]]> Capcom's second live-action viral ad for Resident Evil 5 explores how killing thousands of zombies over the course of his career has effected the love life of Chris Redfield.

This follow-up to the first Resident Evil live-action viral ad, Ceremony, sees the ever-scruffy Chris Redfield on a date with a lovely lady. Everything is going great, and then the eye close-ups kick in. You know you aren't going to get laid once the eye close-ups start, so you might as well just flashback to some in-game footage while your date runs away. Smart man, that Redfield.

<![CDATA[Sci Fi's Live Action Video Game Cha$e Not Half Bad]]> Tonight at 10PM Eastern the Sci Fi Channel premiers it's live-action video game show Cha$e, and while the very idea of a live-action video game had me stocking up on cheese products, this one isn't actually half bad. It features
10 competitors called Runners, who are tasked with spending an hour on the run from Hunter squads continuously dispatched throughout a real life game map. The Runners earn money for every minute they survive, but only the one who makes it to the exit first gets to keep it.

Throughout the game, players get various devices to help them out, such as gizmos that make the hunters turn and walk the other way, invisibility glasses, and sonic stunners, that freeze hunters in place for 2 minutes. In essence, it's the best game of tag ever created. The entire first episode is yours to watch at the link below. Tell us what you think!

<![CDATA[MGS4 Live Action Briefing]]>
On the show floor of Tokyo Game Show, Konami has 48 MGS4 booths setup. But to prep gamers for complex controls without unlimited play time, you first sit through a Disneyesque military briefing complete with big screens, fog machines and betrayals—all to entertain fans while they learn the fundamentals of playing MGS4. It's no one-on-one tutorial with Ryan Payton, but it's a close second.

<![CDATA[Hot Garbage - DOA The Movie Teaser]]> plastic woman, isn't this ironic?

Remember the semi-recent, immeasurably horrible Charlie's Angels' flicks? A teaser surfaced for the upcoming Dead Or Alive live-action movie and it makes the Charlie's Angels flick look like friggin Citizen Kane. I downloaded the video from Rapidshare and rather than force you all to go through the same trauma, I uploaded it to filefront. The link is below. I'd say "watch and enjoy" but that might be setting you up for a fall. Apologies in advance.
