It simply wouldn't work. The sheer amount of product you would need to occupy that space would be ridiculous with what they carry.

a Gaming megastore with games of all eras and tourney set ups and whatnot would be a paradise though.

No, will they liquidate honestly, or give us the finger like they did on the other store liquidations?

I liked Circuit city a lot until the one in my area went to shit last year, and I am sad to see them go. However, if they are leaving, give us some honest liquidation deals this time around.

Good Riddance to Circuit City. I never liked the store. If you were looking for savings CC would be the last place to go. The store was always empty, the employees would huddle in a corner and hang out, and god forbid you needed help with something. I really don't have anything to say that was good about CC.

Though it does suck to see so many unemployed at this time with the economey going down the crapper.

@MerlynNY: Yeah...this is what I always thought too. CC always had the selection, but that's because they charged WAY too much for stuff.

And they had that "shady" process of promising a game/movie in @ 2pm only to reneg on the deal when they revleaed that they did in fact have it...but only like 3 copies which are all gone.

They did this to themselves.

Meh - it's only natural for more of these big brick and mortar electronics retailers to go under the online market gets larger. Why buy anything from Circuit City when you can get the same thing off of Newegg, Amazon, etc. for cheaper and less hassle? The only time I'd go in there is if I needed to see something in person before I ordered it online.

I got a 42'' Panasonic Plasma (model TH-42PZ85U) from Circuit City this Black Friday. I really, really hope that it don't nothing goes wrong in the next forever years. I saved 600 bucks off the retail price, so I'm happy, but damn I'll be pissed it something happens.

@bakagaijin: You're not alone. CC3326, Bellingham, WA here. I saw it coming and was mentally prepared (and am living with my parents, so the financial burden isn't there), but it still sucks... even if part of me was hoping for this outcome.

I'd really like to thank Kotaku, though, for being mature and respectful about this. I'm not in a bad position, but so many of our coworkers are, and eRags like The Consumerist are taking joy in this. It's disgusting. A lot of people who had nothing to do with CC's failures are out of jobs, now, and a lot of them are totally fucked without this income. Kicking them while they're down is not cool. :(

@QuietStorm: Sorry man. Yeah Holyoke, MA here. Thankfully, from the sounds of it, you'll be ok, so thats good to hear. As for myself I have enough savings to hold out for awhile, so I'll be fine, but there are many who aren't so lucky. Good luck finding a new job.

@EnigmaNemesis: I would definitely wait if you can. From what I've read the company in charge of liquidation are some shady characters. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I definitely didn't see this coming. It's going to weird not seeing them around anymore.

Not to be insensitive, but I'm curious if there will be liquidation sales. I see ads for them all the time for small business carpet sales places, but this would be one I would actually go to.
