That's awesome. Now, a simple request since I won't be able to make a call in myself - Could you please ask him if there's any plans to bring Brutal Legend to the PC. I'd love to see it on my system of choice and I'm sure many others would too. #kotakutalkradio
@-MasterDex-: And because I'm well out of acceptable timezones and it'd cost me an arm and a leg to call from Ireland, you can ask him about that evasive jump button as well.
I'll be getting it off iTunes anyway as I always do every week. #kotakutalkradio
Done and done. I've called in two weeks now and plan to do so again. If I get a chance to talk to the man himself I'll be sure to ask about a PC port and the jump button.
The main thing I want to talk about this week:
-Emotions in video games: Why I've cared about some deaths and not others in games. Tim being there makes this good because I'll bring up Brutal Legend with this, FFVII, and CoD: MW2. #kotakutalkradio
@James Henderson: Out of acceptable timezones? It should be 6 or 7pm when the podcast takes place. If anything the timing of the Kotaku podcast is perfectly suited for two kinds of people: the unemployed North American and the employed European.
Get a long distance calling card... you must have those there, I know from experience that they have them in the Netherlands, France and Greece. No reason they wouldn't in Ireland. #kotakutalkradio
@Koztah: That's the problem, I work 12pm-8pm and probably won't be able to tune in. That being said though, it's been a bloody age since I've used Skype, i don't think I even downloaded it since I got this laptop in June, and I've never bought call credit for it before. Who knows, maybe one of the lads'll swap days and I'll get on. #kotakutalkradio
When you say call by Skype do you mean as a Skype to Skype call, or as a regular long-distance call to the number provided. Cos if so then depending on some folks phone plans it might be cheaper to call via landlines/mobile (and still be stupidly expensive)
Also whats 1pm in Kotaku time?
And the logo thing from a few weeks back. Any follow up?
I'd like to ask him how often people mistake him for Charlie from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. It's not spot-on, but it's kinda close, and I've noticed a few other Kotakuites have posted similar observations.

@Super Seven Incher: He never said they were never ever going to develop a PS3 Bioshock. He said there were no plans (at the time he said it) and no development going on. There was an exclusive deal, which none of us know the details to, which could have changed or expired.
@thesircuddles: My threshold for what constitutes a lie must be different than yours:
"I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft ... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."
@Super Seven Incher: Indeed, your definition would be under assumption rather than technicality.
"I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. "
This means that at the time he was asked the question, there was no PS3 version in development and there were no plans to make one. You can not confirm otherwise, so this remains a fact.
"There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft ... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."
Code was found in the PC version that alluded to a PS3 version. Development originally started on both platforms, and then they got an exclusivity deal. The details of the deal are unknown to anyone outside of either company (which would presumably include you). At the time the deal was active, thus 'we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft'.
This is all very simple stuff to digest. If anything he said was a lie, you have no basis for the accusations other than the fact that there is now a PS3 version. That does not mean one was secretly in development at the time he made the above comments. You assume so, but that does not make it so.
True he could be lying, but based on the facts and evidence, I see no reason to believe he was lying at the time. You don't know if the PS3 version was being made at the time of his comment, and I don't know why you assume that's the case. Assumptions are pretty useless in the realm of facts and reality.
@Super Seven Incher: I picture Levine's response being something along the lines of...
"Son, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with controllers. Who's gonna do it? You? You, sircuddles? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for BioShock and curse the X-Box; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that BioShock's port, while tragic, probably entertained millions and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, entertains millions. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like countdown clock, pre-order code, exclusive. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very interactive experiences I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a controller and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to."
Anyone who wants to hear Ken Leving talk more can head over to gamerswithjobs.com It's by far my favorite gaming podcast and Ken Levine has been there at least 3 times already. I know he's on podcast 100 and 150. I know he was also on during the development of Bioshock once or twice, can't remember which podcast tough.

@Curse_Lily: Auto Modellista! Man, blast from the past, there. I had TOTALLY forgotten about that game. I know it's not that far in the past, but wow... faded into the dark recesses of my memory, that one did. As I recall, the handling was similar to driving on a frozen lake covered in vasoline? Good times.

Pick his brain about Ayn Rand novels and the complexities of brow sweat related currency. Should be good for a laugh or two.
