Through the magic of pre-release publicity, Ubisoft can turn your plain old regular Prince Of Persia game into a sparkly new Limited Edition Prince Of Persia pack.

All the usual Limited Edition boxes are ticked - Art Book, Strategy Guide, 'Collectible Packaging' (exactly who these collectors are is never adequately explained — do write in if you know someone who covets this kind of thing) and, of course, a soundtrack CD.

The Limited edition is only available via preorder so, if you were going to buy it anyway, why not snag yourself an Art Book?

The Extremely Limited Edition UK MGS4 Watch Isn't she lovely? This lovely Limited Edition Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots timepiece, now up for preorder at UK online retailer Gamestation, has been lovingly crafted using the finest stainless steel, engraved and numbered, and packed in a lovely black box with a silver MGS4 logo stamped on top along with a certificate of authenticity from Konami. Approved by Kojima himself, only 500 of these babies are being released on October 31st of this year, and they're only going to be available through Gamestation...who only ships to the UK, making me sad.

One of the team responsible for creating the limited edition dropped us a line to let us know that Gamestation accidentally put it up for order before the big announcement, so this would be an excellent time to order one before the rush. At £99.99 it makes an excellent gift for any member of the American gaming press sitting at their computer desk drooling over a watch.

Europe Getting Crisis Core PSP Bundle This Month Poor, put upon Europe. You either had to pay exorbitant prices to import a Japanese or North American version of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII or simply wait patiently for the game's release on your continent on the 20th of this month. Alone In The Dark Euro Limited Edition Someone at Eden Games has a thing for Keanu Reeves, don't you think? It's as if they buffed him up, renamed him Edward Carnby and plastered his face all over the European Limited Edition for Alone In The Dark for the Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. He's on the cover of the Official Soundtrack CD, the Making Of DVD, and splashed throughout the pages of the bound art book. Hell, they've even included a figurine of Neo Carby for you to play bullet-time with in the bathtub. It's all wrapped up in a rather nifty looking box that will completely fail to fit on the shelf with the rest of your game collection, securing it a cherry spot above your mantle. All I can say is whoa...I hope we get something similar stateside. Not to sure about the game but I love having boxes of Limited Edition stuff lying around.

Host of Exclusive Content Including Making Of Documentary Feature, Figurine of Game's Hero, Full Colour Art Book and More

LYON, FRANCE - 22 April 2007 - Atari today announced details of the European Limited Edition of the highly anticipated action adventure game Alone in the Dark, scheduled for simultaneous launch with the game across Europe in June for Xbox 360, Wii and PC.

The full contents of the European Limited Edition box are as follows:
• Alone in the Dark game, one of the most anticipated games of the year;
• Figurine of the game's legendary hero, Edward Carnby;
• Official Soundtrack CD featuring 8 in-game tracks of original music by Olivier Derivière and performed by Grammy® Award-winning choir The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices;
• Full colour, bound art book featuring never before seen production sketches, storyboards and original artwork from Eden Games;
• 'Making Of' documentary feature DVD with exclusive interviews, behind the scenes footage and additional bonus content.

Exclusive items to the Limited Edition include the art book, hero figurine and 'making of' documentary DVD which are only available through purchase of the Limited Edition in Europe.

Released in a specially designed box, the Limited Edition takes fans deep into the world of Alone in the Dark, the innovative game that is set to break the boundaries of gaming genres with its action-packed survival experience. During one night in New York, the player takes the role of Edward Carnby battling to survive at all costs and uncover the earth-shattering secret behind Central Park.

Developed by Eden Games, Alone in the Dark uses state-of-the-art technology to create a fully interactive environment where all objects can be freely used to create tools, decoys and weapons. Told in the episodic style of popular TV drama series, the intense story grips the player from start to finish with action, plot twists, and cliff hangers. The DVD-style chapter select puts an end to frustration allowing the player to move on if they get stuck, and creating the first game that absolutely everyone can finish. The Limited Edition shows how these and other innovations were transformed from ideas and ambition into heart-stopping, nail-biting gameplay reality.

Mass Effect Limited Collector's Edition, Mass Unboxing On a rainy, dreary day that's atypically warm for a Midwest November afternoon, our doorbell rang for what we were sure to be another political petition or overzealous neighbor worried about the state of our gutters. But instead we received our Limited Collector's Edition review copy of Mass Effect. Here are the details:

The tin case is actually quite nice, with sharp, clean artwork. And we've decided that the 36-page Galactic Codex: Essentials is a must-read (translation: foreplay) before we start gaming later, but its bullet pointed format makes it less intimidating than a straight geek novel or something. The only thing that will seem out of place is the Battlestar Galactica ad, which probably makes no sense at all to those who haven't heard about the SCI FI promotional partnerships. But we can always use an extra shot of Number 6.

So who's ready for a space opera?

Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition Details Capcom has finally unveiled the contents of the Premium Super Awesome Limited Collector's Edition of Devil May Cry 4 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and while it not be a collector's case with replicas of Dante's pistols in it, it's still not a bad little deal. Both versions will be packaged in 'Steelbook' cases, along with a bonus DVD that contains a making of featurette, music from the soundtrack, a digital art book, wallpapers, icons, and screen savers. Also included with the Collector's Edition is the first disc of ADV's Devil May Cry: The Animated Series, containing four episodes of the brand new anime. It looks to be packaged in one of those little cardboard disc sleeves that anime fans despise, so expect printable fan-made DVD case inserts to be available by the time the game is released. I'm probably going to pass on this one myself, as $79.99 makes that anime DVD more of an additional purchase than a bonus.

CAPCOM® ANNOUNCES DEVIL MAY CRY® 4 COLLECTOR'S EDITION

Four Episode Anime DVD, SteelbookTM Case and Bonus Disc Included

Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced the contents of the Devil May Cry® 4 Collector's Edition package, which includes volume 1 of ADV Films' Devil May Cry: The Animated Series, a Steelbook™ case and a bonus DVD filled with extras. The $79.99 Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition will be available February 5, 2008, for both the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

The Devil May Cry: The Animated Series anime disc will be packed with the Steelbook case, and will include the first four episodes of the 12 episode anime series. Volume one of the four-disc DVD anime series will be available from ADV Films at the same time the game launches. Inside the case will be a second bonus DVD alongside the game that users can slip into their computers. The bonus DVD will contain a "making of" feature on the game, music from the Devil May Cry 4 soundtrack, a digital art book with images and sketches from the development team, wallpapers, icons and screen savers.

The highly anticipated Devil May Cry 4 immerses gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist clashes with series mainstay Dante. As new leading man Nero players will be able to unleash incredibly powerful and stylish attacks and non-stop combos using a combination of the Devil Bringer arm and the Exceed system, both of which are new gameplay mechanics for the series. Fans of Dante won't be disappointed as he too will be playable during the course of the game.

Devil May Cry 4 is an epic story where the lines between good and evil are constantly blurred. Taking full advantage of the advanced graphical and processing power of the next-gen systems and Windows PC it draws gamers into the rich and highly detailed world of Fortuna and its surrounds with more enemies than ever before and some of the most breath-taking bosses ever conceived.

Devil May Cry 4 includes the following features:
• From the producer of the original Devil May Cry® and Resident Evil® 4
• 2 playable characters - take control of both Nero & Dante
• High-definition visuals moving at 60 frames per second
• Blend of familiar and new: newcomer Nero clashes with veteran Dante plus appearances from Trish, Lady and others from the DMC series
• Exceed System allows Nero to easily charge up his sword with a throttle effect, revving up to three levels with powerful and varied attack options
• Deep combo system rewards stylish dispatching of enemies
• Unique "Devil Bringer" arm opens up a range of never seen before combo options
• Distinct set of weaponry and moves for Nero and Dante
• New active style change system for Dante allows him to switch styles and weapons on the fly, producing crazy combo possibilities
• Numerous new characters and environments
• Signature blend of guns and swordplay

Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition contains the following extras:
• Volume 1 of ADV Film's Devil May Cry: The Animated Series on DVD, including four complete episodes of the anime (a retail value of $29.99)
• Unique Steelbook™ metal case
• Bonus DVD
o Making of Devil May Cry 4
o Music from the soundtrack
o Digital artbook
o PC content (screen savers, wallpapers, icons)

Mass Effect LE Available Online Only Through EB/GameStop masseffectle.jpgIf you were hoping to waltz into your local EB/GameStop on November 20 and pick up a Mass Effect Limited Edition, it looks like you're out of luck. According to the game retailer's website, the Limited edition will only be available as an online purchase. And I quote:

This is an ONLINE ONLY Limited Edition. This item WILL NOT be available in stores.

This seems like an odd move, but who am I to question the logic of the great EB Games? So as not to cause any confusion, EB Games isn't the only place you can get the Mass Effect Limited Edition, you just won't be able to get in their stores. Whether or not it will be available at other brick and mortar locales remains to be seen.

The game retailer has recently halted taking pre-orders for the game everyone wants to get their hands on. There is speculation on why this has happened ranging from not having enough copies to meet demand to GameStop finding broken Big Daddy figures in some of the boxes. Regardless of the reason, if you waited, you're S.O.L and you'll have to make do with the plain old version of the game, wait until the limited edition makes a second run or buy it an an inflated price on eBay. Halo Edition 360 $400 with 20GB HDD 360halo.jpg

The Halo 3 Limited Edition Xbox 360 will sell for $400, Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360, told us earlier today.

The limited edition "spartan green" console, he expects, won't even survive the holiday rush. It comes packed with a "spartan green" wireless controller, "spartan green" headset, a play and charge kit and a wimpy, wimpy wimpy 20GB harddrive. That's right, it may be "spartan green" but this 360 is no elite. The special 360 will also include a slew of special Halo themes and gamer pics, he said.

I asked him why the Halo edition console won't come with a Halo edition copy of Halo 3, he said it was something they debated but decided in the long run it didn't make sense. Microsoft believes people would likely rather decide which version to buy on their own. I also asked if there were any plans for a limited edition Madden 360, since that is their targeted game for the price drop, and he said that Microsoft doesn't think that a special edition console really fits the Madden demographic.

Obviously, this item doesn't come with the game, because if it did, I'm pretty sure the bids would far surpass the $166 mark it's accrued since its listing. Limited Simpsons Xbox 360 Coming LE SIMPSONEI gotta tell ya, I'm cautiously optimistic about EA's new game based on The Simpsons. Conceptually, they knocked it out of the park. The episodic layout, exploiting Treehouse of Horror-like surreal situations for a series of video game parodies, finally giving a non-Simpsons Wrestling game the cel-shaded effect—all of these things help confirm that someone at EA LA knows how to take advantage of the license.

Did you see those gameplay videos? Brilliant stuff.

This limited edition Simpsons Xbox 360 makes the announcement that much sweeter. Only 100 of these Homer-yellow consoles are going to be manufactured and the only way you'll be able to score one is through a "series of special events and promotions." And, of course, the inevitable eBay auctions that follow.

Stay tuned for more.

Silver PS2 Announced

Sony today announced the release of a new, limited edition silver Playstation 2. The console, soon to be outdated by the Playstation 3 on Nov. 17, will sell for $130 and include a silver PS2 controller. Funny enough, the controller, with its heft and shakeyness, will soon be cutting edge among Playstation console controllers.

Sony also reminded us that they did, in fact, make a killing with the Playstation 2 and plan to continue to do so. To date Sony has sold more than 111 million of the consoles and 1.12 billion games for it.

"Six years after its initial launch, the PlayStation 2 continues to enjoy nonstop success, outselling all other consoles," said Jack Tretton, executive vice president, co-COO, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "The introduction of this limited edition model is sure to be a hit this holiday season with die-hard PlayStation fans and new gamers alike."

TGS06: The Custom PSPs Of The Tokyo Game Show In the Sony booth, a half-dozen customized, so-not-for-sale PSP's are on display. The whole thing just screams "lifestyle". I'll spare you the gory details of the Pepto pink PSP display cabinet—seriously, it features pearls and high heels—and the uber-boring ceramic white, as camo PSP's are where the action is.

Check out the other unique portables after the jump.

SYNCHRONICITY

These display cases were labeled with placards that read "Hey. We're not releasing these. These are just for you to envy." Yes, I'm paraphrasing, but don't expect to see any of these on storeshelves any time soon.

Not Just Heroes, Limited Edition Heroes Ubisoft will be releasing an extra-special bonus happy fun time Limited Edition of Heroes of Might and Magic V along with the plain old regular boring hateful version. The spectacular wonderful amazing edition will include the two previous versions of the game, extra maps, a soundtrack, and the same invasive StarForce malware as the regular edition. Limited Edition Auto Assault Detailed NCSoft still hasn't said anything about the subscription price for MMO Auto Assault, but today they did unveil the goodies you'll get if you buy the Limited Edition pack in the U.S. It looks like it's not quite as packed as the European version, but it does cost like $10 less, so we win.

The pack will come with an HS-150 headset by Creative to use with the game s built-in voice chat system, access to an in-game remote control car (think of it as a pet), all three starte packs for the Auto Assault Online Trading Card Game from Worlds Apart and an Auto Assault soundtrack CD featuring music created by Richard Dekkard.

I had a chance to check out the studios a few weeks back and meet Dekkard. He let me listen to a snippet of some of the music, it was very moody and fit quite well with the enviroment that it plays in.

The whole pack will sell for about $60 and NCsoft promises to clue us in on subscription pricing in the next few weeks.

Not Nirvana, DS Gets a Bleach Theme bleachds.jpg

Gamebrink reports that 50 of these Bleach DS units will find their way into consumers' hands via a giveaway Sega is sponsoring in conjunction with the Jan. 26 release of Bleach DS across the sea. I'm hoping Ashcraft can pick one up; I'd imagine it will fetch a ton on eBay.

Thanks, Jeromy
