Back when I was but a wee child I would have nightmares about werewolves. I'd be in a secluded area somewhere in the woods, and I would hear a sound in the distance. I would turn to look, and there, silhouetted in the moonlight, would be a twisted, lupine form. Slowly the form would turn, and lightning would flash, a snarling face looking my way only to disappear in the blink of an eye.

I mention this because the werewolves in this latest batch of screens from Spark Unlimited's PS3, Xbox 360, and PC game Legendary (formerly Legendary: The Box) look exactly like the ones I used to have nightmares about. Could be time for a little virtual catharsis.

"In Cabela's Legendary Adventures the missions are based on encounters with some of the most famous animals ever hunted in the wild," said Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing. "Focusing on these amazing once-in-a-lifetime stories has really allowed us to capture the essence of what hunting is all about - a quest for a legendary experience."

Because if you were already interested in picking up Ninja Gaiden II, pre-ordering the game at Circuit City will score you the Halo 3 Legendary Map pack free. And seeing as Halo doesn't seem to be going anywhere in the near future, it could be a decent way to save yourself ten dollars 800 Microsoft Points.

Hey Kotaku - a million people have probably already told you, but Halo 3's legendary map pack is up for grabs. Download speed is a bit of a crawl, as is probably to be expected, although at least it hasn't destroyed Xbox Live like the recent COD4 map pack did.

Next week, April 15, Halo 3 gamers will be soaking in new, Bungie-created downloadable content, a moisturizing formula of Ghost Town, Avalanche and Blackout. Just imagine the slurs you can toss out in these new environments! I can't promise these 27 screen shots of the new Legendary Map Pack will convince you to drop the Microsoft Points on new multiplayer arenas, but I'm pretty sure fans of scaffolding and planks will be pretty darn excited to lay their rods and cones on this pic. Simply stunning in its plank-ticity.

Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack Trailer

The third and final map to be included in the upcoming Legendary map pack for Halo 3 should be familiar to fans. Known as "Blackout," the map is a remake of Halo 2's "Lockout" and joins "Avalanche" and "Ghost Town" in the forthcoming downloadable. The official Bungie site has a quick Q&A with the "Blackout" design team in which much hilarity ensues. Ha ha. There are also pictures!

For those of you who have grown weary of the typical WWII or sci-fi shooter, EIEIO's Legendary may be the answer to your prayers. After unwittingly opening Pandora's box, the thief Deckard is the only one who can seal it again, and he faces many nasty, gnarly creatures along the way. Feast your eyes on this collection of gameplay, screenshots, and concept art - much like the werewolves and slew of other monsters will soon be feasting on your head.

Earlier today Gamecock announced that their annual mini-con, EIEIO, was moving from California to Texas to coincide with South By Southwest. Wow, this looks kinda interesting. Legendary: The Box appears to be a mythology packed first-person shooter set in modern time. The game, developed by Spark and published by Gamecock, is set to hit the PC and "next-generation platforms" in the spring of 2008. The game has you play an art thief who first steals and then opens Pandora's Box. The box unleashes hordes of fictional beasts and it's up to you to kill them. Wow, that metaphors was lost on Spark.
