Gears Of War 2 Invades Torrent Sites
Yes, yes - Gears of War 2 has begun showing up on popular torrent sites across the internets, with a gigantic 6.76 GB file in convenient RAR format currently being seeded by hundreds of inconsiderate asshats around the world. I won't go into details because quite frankly I've gotten to the point where I don't even consider leaks news anymore. It's going to happen, be it a week away from release or a month away. The only difference between now and any other time of the year is that more high-profile games come out during the holiday season, which I suppose means this is a busy time for everyone in the industry, pirates included.
I think the most important thing to note in this post is that my spellchecker (yes, I use one) still fails to recognize asshat as a proper word. I know I can add it in myself, but that isn't the point. Until the word is officially recognized these leak posts will continue to make me a spellchecker rebel, living on the edge, clicking 'skip all' like some kind of madman.

Bethesda Looking Into Fallout 3 Leak
Were you the one that leaked Fallout 3? Well, you better not be, because Bethesda is looking to find out just who did! Bethesda VP Pete Hines says they've narrowed it down and they're gonna get you!
"We're looking into it. Since we haven't sent out a single disc, it greatly reduces the number of places this might have come from."
So that means it must have been an internal leak (really doubtful) or someone haxored their way in. Me? I like to buy my games (or at the very least own a used retail copy). Nothing beats the smell of opening a new game and displaying it proudly on your bookshelf with the rest of your collection.

Xbox Fall Update Leaked, Hacked, Relatively Useless
An early beta version of Microsoft's Fall Xbox Experience dashboard update for the 360 has made its way onto the internet via the usual file sharing sites, and modders and hackers have been working overtime to get the thing up and running on their consoles. xHaVoK87 has been constantly updating readers on his progress in getting the dash functional on his box, and as of his most recent update it looks like he's been successful. Congratulations! You now have a buggy beta version of the Fall dash update, complete with font errors, missing graphics, and none of the actual features that are supposed to be coming to revolutionize the Xbox Live Experience. In essence, your hacked Xbox now looks different. Way to go.
Work is currently being done towards an install solution for retail Xbox 360 systems, but you know what? I'll just wait. Hit the jump for a clip of the new dash in action, or hit the link for the full rundown of how they did it.

Pre-E3 News Leak
Massive Leaks Are Rumors, Says Marketing Company Responsible
Intellisponse, the marketing firm behind the recent weekend's massive Activision and Microsoft leak-fest, is declining to comment on its gatekeeping issues or the impact the leaks might have on its clients.
"It is our policy that we do not comment on rumor or speculation," said spokesperson Elizabeth McCrocklin.
When Kotaku pointed out via email that the fact a leak most certainly occurred, resulting in widespread dissemination of info from the Intellisponse site was, well, a fact, and not a speculation, McCrocklin did not reply.
Intellisponse is a market research firm that partners with companies to help them conduct surveys and glean intelligence for their upcoming products and concepts. It also hosts a survey platform to help its clients conduct market research. It isn't certain just how actual any of the leaked products are - the leaks came from some of these surveys, so it's entirely possible that they're merely theoretical concepts for the purpose of gauging reaction and testing out the market.
For its part, Microsoft also declined to comment with the exact same "rumors and speculation" line, about either the fact of the leak or the concepts that emerged.

EVE Online Source Code Leaked, No Worries
The source code for CCP's EVE Online has been popping up on torrent trackers all over the place this week, leading to players worrying about the security of their accounts, as well as having the peace, sleep-inducing serenity of their mining efforts disturbed. CCP assures everyone that the leak will have no adverse effects on the EVE community.
"The server-side interface used by the client is carefully protected to ensure that no abusive or unwanted information is transmitted to, or from the internal EVE server systems. Nothing the EVE client can do can affect the game state, no advantage can be gained by manipulating the EVE client, no advantageous or disadvantageous information can be transmitted to other EVE users by altering the EVE client."
CCP is still mum on how the source code was accessed, so feel free to make up your own story. Mine involves romance, intrigue, and the movie guy voice saying, "The only thing hotter than their love...was her betrayal."

GTA IV Street Map Leaked
This is exactly why we can't have nice release dates. A webshots user named pallamallawa has uploaded six images of what look to be the map insert for the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Images include the city itself, complete with descriptions of various locales, the Liberty City subway map, and the controller map for the PS3. It's about as New York as you can get without actually being in New York. Everything looks rather official, though I'm going to go ahead and rumor tag this pending some sort of official confirmation. It's not that we don't trust the internet, it's just...okay, we don't trust the internet.

Ziff Davis Picks On Tiny Brazilian Site Over Leaked SFIV Pics [Updated]
Yesterday a tiny little Brazilian gaming site called Blogeek run by Douglas Pereia stumbled upon some new information and screens of Capcom's Street Fighter IV, which were due to be revealed in the next issue of EGM, which will surely grace bathroom floors across the country when it comes out. Gaming websites around the world - including Kotaku - picked up the story and ran with it. Douglas received the information from an anonymous source, but it all looks and feels legit. Well now said information has been confirmed in the form of a threatening e-mail to Douglas from André Forastieri, the boss of Futuro Comunicação, the publisher of the Brazilian EGM. "The content you posted in the site blogeek is property of Ziff Davis, given from Capcom only to Ziff Davis and EGM issues, with embargo for the publications. Your publication of this subject is theft of intellectual property and should have immediate legal consequences. Ziff Davis and Futuro want you to cut off the content form your site immediately."

Halo 3 Ending Spills Onto Internets
Oh no! The ending to Halo 3 has been posted on the internet a full week before the game is due to be released! I've seen the video now, and to whoever posted it on the net, f*** y*** buddy. Even Crecente, who takes great pleasure in telling me things I am not supposed to know just to make himself feel better didn't spoil the ending of the game for me, and now Dr. McRandom Ass goes and tosses up a crappy phone-vid and ruins everything. Curiosity kicks my ass, so I had to look, but I am giving you folks a choice. I am not posting the video here. Screw that. Everybody else is either in or heading to Japan right now, so it's my call. If they show up later and decide to post it, it's their prerogative, but I won't be that guy. If you really want to see it, I'm sure you'll find it. In its place, I give you Charlie the Unicorn, a classic tale of epic adventure. Oh, and don't post a URL on where to find the video in comments. Make them work for it. -

Silent Hill PSP Demo Escapes Onto Internet
Something so evil. . .cannot be contained. If I were Climax CEO Karl Jeffery that is exactly how I would have responded to news that the demo for upcoming PSP title Silent Hill Origins began appearing on torrent sites this past Sunday, days before the game was due to be shown at Leipzig. Instead he reacted to the news that thousands of people were downloading the code to game with a much less interesting but probably much more effective CYA statement.
"All I can say is that code did not leak from Climax - 100 per cent guaranteed," said Jeffery.
So the build being swiped from torrent sites all over the world was in Konami's hands? It's coming from inside the house!"The code that is out there is fingerprinted and was supplied solely to Konami for marketing purposes."

WoW Wrath of the Lich King FAQ?
An FAQ for the WoW: Wrath of the Lich King expansion may have leaked onto a German WoW forum earlier today after being up on the European Union WoW website late last night. If its contents are legit, players can expect:
1. Death Knight Hero Class (starting at higher level, damage-dealing tank)
2. Level 80 character cap
3. Siege weapons and destructible buildings in PVP
4. "hundreds of new recipes and thousands of new items"But I'm not a WoW freak, so hit the jump for the entire FAQ and some bombshells that I may have missed. More »
