Unless there's some obscure British pop culture icon that also says "who ya gonna call?" we're somehow not aware of, it's pretty clear we'll soon be getting some Ghostbusters DLC for LBP.

Cuddly proton packs? Big-eyed slimer? The chance to create a level where Janine is brought together with her true love, Egon Spengler? We'd like all of those things. Those and the revelation that the "Sacktue of Liberty" can carry four sackboys in its head, and stomp around a level to Jackie Wilson.

<![CDATA[More Like LittleBugPlanet (Sorry, Sorry)]]> According to some upset posters over on the official LittleBigPlanet forums, the Metal Gear Solid DLC released for the game last week didn't just bring good times. It brought bad, content-erasing times as well.

Some users are complaining that, after purchasing the Metal Gear content, their singleplayer progress through the pack was erased. Sucky, but surmountable. Other users, however, are complaining of having their user-generated content erased by the DLC. That's...less surmountable.

This being the silly season, Media Molecule are off being silly like the rest of us, so a comment/solution/acknowledgement of this issue probably won't be with us for a day or two.

<![CDATA[Tic Tac Toe In LBP]]>

We were pretty certain the fully functional calculator was the most complex LittleBigPlanet mod around. Surely nobody could top that for sheer intricacy, could they?

Oh Internet, you spoil us. PSN user 'Cristel' has gone and implemented a basic Tic Tac Toe engine, armed only with the LBP level creator, a lot of free time and a catering sized carton of WIN.

Unless we are very much mistaken that counts as actual artificial intelligence - albeit of a simple variety. Hell, in a global thermonuclear war situation this mod could save the world, which translates as some serious modding chops.

[Thanks to Laurens Simonis for the tip]

<![CDATA[You There. I Say, My Good Man, Please Moderate My LBP Level Into Oblivion]]> LittleBigPlanet level-makers have certainly gotten a ton of my sympathy over the past week or so. But one thing you can't do is create levels that blatantly infringe IP, so, whomever built the Duck Hunt LBP level, or the homages to all three Back to the Future films, nice knowin' ya.

Impressive, clever, but ultimately, gone. I do have to say, the Duck Hunt level's rendering, right down to the Asshole Dog holding up the kills, really touts the creativity of LBP's devoted users and the game's ability to unleash it. But again, moderators have no compunctions about deep-sixing this kind of stuff.

Video of all the levels in question on the jump.

<![CDATA[LBP 4 PSP WTF?]]> LittlerNotAsBigPlanetoid? The December issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly carries a rumor (the second we've heard this year) that LittleBigPlanet may be about to get even more ubiquitous as the title is ported to the PSP. EGM's head of rumor mongering Quartermann wrote,

The LBP universe will also continue to evolve next year with the release of the PSP version: Q-Mann hears it’s fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 LBP experience.

There are no actual facts about the game, but it would be difficult to imagine using the PSP to do any serious level editing. Interestingly, Media Molecule are apparently not involved in the port and are said to be considering new project - including a possible online RPG.

<![CDATA[Jilted Lovers, Mullets and Exploding Dogs - The LittleBigPlanet Euro Ads]]>

This is how Sony will be flogging LittleBigPlanet across Europe - three short TV spots showing off some of the more creative uses of the level creation tools.

In The Cullen Family Planet, Murray shows us the LBP level he made for his two sons. Remember - the family that explodes dogs together, stays together.

Two more after the jump.

The Janice Planet could spawn a new genre - revenge modding. "We start off inside Janice's heart, which as you can see is mostly frozen..."

With The Heavy Metal Mullet Planet, the clue is very much in the title. Guide a hair-metal Sackboy to the stage by SWINGING ON THE MULLET OF A ROBOT DINOSAUR GUITARIST.

Just take a few moments to savor that last sentence.

<![CDATA[Second LBP Patch Removes 'Offensive' Lyrics]]> If you fall into the presumably rather select category of PS3 Owners who managed to get hold of a copy of LBP before the recall and who would be offended by hearing verses of the Holy Qur’an set to music while you play.... Sony have got just the patch for you.

The second LittleBigPlanet patch since the games not-quite release, v1.02 doesn't fix any noticeable bugs but instead removes the controversial lyrics from the game's soundtrack.

The affected track - Tourmani Diabaté’s song “Tapha Niang” - is replaced with an instrumental version.

<![CDATA[Islamic Group Weighs In On LBP Recall]]> The non-profit American Islamic Forum For Democracy has spoken out against Sony's decision to recall LittleBigPlanet, calling the move "censorship".

M. Zuhdi Jasser, M.D, director of the AIFD, said that, “Muslims cannot benefit from freedom of expression and religion and then turn around and ask that anytime their sensibilities are offended that the freedom of others be restricted."

Jasser added that the Prophet, "defended the rights of his enemies to critique him in any way even if it was offensive to his own Islamic sensibilities or respect for Koranic scripture.”

Not that he is calling Sony an enemy of Islam or anything but.. well, you get his point.

<![CDATA[A Proposal Of Marriage... via LBP]]>
A gamer known only as DimmuJed used LBP's level creation tool to propose to his girlfriend.

The actual proposal bit comes surprisingly early on - the guy can't resist tearing around the hearts and flowers-themed level racking up a (possibly symbolic) high score.

Not shown - her elaborate Unreal Tournament mod explaining that she isn't sure if she is ready for that level of commitment and would like some time on her own to think.

<![CDATA[Media Molecule Apparently Reconsiders on LBP Beta User Levels]]> 1Up's reporting from TGS that Media Molecule cofounder Alex Evans hisself "let slip" that all those awesome LittleBigPlanet beta user-created levels we've been seeing will in fact make the transition into the full final game. This countermands MM's Leo Cubbin, who two weeks ago said they wouldn't.

1Up points out that this means the game ships with a library of user content all ready for the LBP community to tap on the first day of release. That's probably why Media Molecule changed its tune.

Finally, Evans said Media Molecule is watching this poll about user-created beta levels, over at the LBP official blog, so if you have a feeling about this or other feedback, go make it known. I'm not sure who would be against this, or why. More content's better, right?

<![CDATA[LBP Beta Levels Won't Work In Finished Game]]> If you have been lucky enough to play with a LittleBigPlanet beta and have knocked up a good-looking level, make sure you sketch it on the back of an envelope or something.

Media Molecule's Leo Cubbin confirmed to fan site LittleBigMadness that none of the lovingly crafted beta levels will be importable into the finished game, not even that amazing Shadow Of The Colossus one the other day.

Gone, finished, useless. Kaput. Like tears in rain, and all that.

<![CDATA[Design Students Enter LittleBigPlanet Game Jam]]> Students at the prestigious Parsons The New School For Design in New York will be taking part in a LittleBigPlanet design-o-thon.

On September 21 & 22, 120 students will split into teams of 5 and play the game solidly for 24 hours, creating one level per team. Those that survive will have their efforts judged by Parsons faculty and Media Molecule.

The winning level will be included in a special section of the game. It'll be interesting to see how proper designers go about knocking up a game level — will they emphasize the fun , or just go for something elegantly laid out?

<![CDATA[Sackboy and Sackgirl: It's Wuv]]>
It's such a familiar, yet timeless story, Sackboy meets Sackgirl, he helps her in a tough time in her life, they go out on a date — Sackgirl gets electrocuted and incinerated by lava, but Sackboy's charming laughter wins her over. Here's a look at the better half of Little Big Planet's power couple. As if you don't know already, the game drops in October, and it's PS3 only.
