And that 6 months of lawyering is why you'd never have seen "Guitar Hero: Beatles". Because that 6 months of time spent getting the likenesses and overal look correct would be used to pump out Smash Hits V.2
And thanks for tying it back to Love. Going through the "headache" then is MUCH better than after the product is released and there's an even bigger headache after.
@CamoZombie: Gold Stars are a kind of sixth star (whose threshold is approximately 1.5x the five-star mark) that can only be scored if everyone is playing on Expert.
@LoopyChew: Finally someone who knows things. I spent at least 15 minutes staring at the achievement screen, then back to my song list, and back again trying to figure that out. Thanks man.
@AlphaUltima: I found it harder solo expert guitar to get gold stars in this game than in RB2. Which I found odd, because in general the songs are much easier.
@Pessimipposaurus: There were a few things missing, sure, but was there a lot in the game you didn't want to see? Maybe Boys, Dig a Pony, I Want You (She's So Heavy) except those songs are in the game as examples of the Beatles' variety, willingness to experiment, and their huge influence on a wide variety of rock. Sure, maybe Money should have been in the game, for one example, but there's only so many they can put in with the enormous licensing fees they no doubt paid for access to the Beatles' catalog. They had to save something for DLC.
That's only natural. They had to use around 40+ songs and there's bound to be little rights holders here and there. 6 months is a pretty good time for that because it could take upto a year and in some films, they sometimes only get a final lock on the music just a month before release.
Thank the lord they did it, because i personally dont care for music games, but this is the first one that literally brought my family together to play games. Absolutely incredible collection of sights and sounds.
I would've loved to have been there watching a couple of silver-tongued lawyers discussing the rights to one of the most influential bands ever so that they could make a video game about them.
I hope this sets a precedent and we get Led Zepplin, The Who, Pink Floyd, etc. Rock Band titles, think of the possibilities!
A new Yellow Submarine movie!? Why oh why!? That movie still haunts me from when I was six, I guess this generation of children need something to have nightmares about.
@Masonvrocks - Mastered the art of nothing: You don't know the meaning of children's fear. Here's an example of fear/disturbing for any all ages (originally intended for kids too).

Good to see that as a law student, I can look forward to such things as six months of negotiating the same contract day in and day out. Oh the excitement!
@Pandare: Well if you go into contract law, yes, that is all you will do. If you go into trademark law, then this is some significant percentage of what you will do.
You could always end up in criminal defense, or malpractice law, or any number of other fields where you'll hardly encounter contracts (no more then everyone else does).
@Pandare: It's only the same contract as in the same way a RTS is always the same, just the maps change. And the start points. And the types of units you can get. And how much resource you start with. Every paragraph is its own distinct packet of knowledge, with its own glorious history, and while you're assuredly in campaign mode when working over a really long one, it's a different challenge each time.
@MushroomBoy1022: Why don't they just call it The Beatles in the Uncanny Valley... Robert Zemeckis motion capture is more frightening than most modern horror movies. The original movie was just OK. The animation style was lovely, but the script was underwritten, and the soundtrack was padded with filler. I don't see how Bobby Z is going to improve things. His movies, with a few exceptions, tend to be aggressively mediocre.
@AdamW: @dowingba: Who Framed Roger Rabbit is great (his best by miles), Back to the Future is very good. Most of Zemeckis' movies are good but more promising than well executed and more emotionally manipulative than affecting. Good, nevertheless. He's a lesser Spielberg, which isn't a horrible thing. But it sounds like he's using the same tech as The Polar Express and Beowulf. I don't think he's a bad director, and I would love to love a new Yellow Submarine. He's just not the guy to get me excited about the project.

Its the best rock band/guitar hero game I've played.
The achievements are hard though. What does "EXPERT GOLD STARS" mean anyway?

The songs were chosen to express not only the hits, but the Beatles wide variety of styles.
Also, if you go through and read some of the facts provided as you collect photos...you'll come to realize why certain songs are included.

Oh hell no. Just rerelease the original version and clean it up for screen in 5.1 surround audio and crisp visuals in all its glory!

His Yellow Submarine is going to be a sight to behold. Remember what he did with Roger Rabbit. Good god that movie really broke new ground.
I doubt that Yellow Submarine is going to look anything like Polar Express or Beowulf. It'll definitely be more stylized.
Also, his love for the Beatles knows no bounds. And all you need is love.
