I downloaded it yesterday morning, and have had no issues. I haven't turned it on yet today, though, so I guess I'll see.
I love it so far.
Deleting all of my old demos and games my wife played that I have a 0 gamerscore on was one of the first things I did.
That, and installing Halo 3. I'm toying with installing Fallout 3, Mass Effect, GTAIV, Oblivion, The Orange Box, and Fable 2 as well. Just to see what kind of effect it has on loading times.
I also actually like the avatars. I like scrolling across my friends list and seeing vague representations of everyone.
Impressed by the disc copying, not at all liking the XMB-on-side with massive pictures style interface. The original one was certainly more logical to me in how it was navigated, and faster in how the user could see exactly what option they wanted to go to in the list. The guide button with miniature blades still took me to the NXE style game download sections instead of anything remotely like the old one. Guess I can like it or lump it because there is no going back now...?
I am happy to see the blades go away, but at the same time, it's not quite the "experience" I was looking for. Plus it's fucked up all my themes. I was kinda hopin' they'd go the sony route with the wallpapers and let you put your own images in; zoom them to fit; adjust where you want center to be and *boom* a beautiful custom dash. Nope. They squeeze and crop the image and it jacks up the resolution. A minor complaint of mine and the other complaint are the Mii's. Sorry Microsoft, call'em what you want... they're Mii's. For some reason, even though there are far more options for creating your Mii, I had a hard time making myself. My Wii Mii,( that's fun to write ) looks scarily like me and it took about 5 minutes to make. So while this update may not be an "experience", it is a nice change. Barring my minor quibbles.
@Saliu: One thing about Avatar creation that bugged me was how similar the eye choices were for them.
But I agree that I don't feel like my Avatar represents me as much as my Mii does. I think a lot of the Mii is that they put a TON of sliders in the face customization, so you can really fine tune it.
Where as here it's take it or leave it. The closest eyes I could find were "close enough" but didn't feel right...and I couldn't even find a good pair of glasses that matched what I wear.
In the end, it feels more like an "idealized version" of myself more than a true representation. Especially since my weight options are "Skeletor" "Normal" and "Fat"
So far it seems good. Yes, the marketplace is a bit slow - for a while it told me there were no games that my avatar could play. Then later it showed me 3 games, including Uno, that my avatar could participate in.
I know this is far fetched, but I'm going to reason that there are marketplace and NXE errors, because the service is getting slammed by millions of users updating and "just messin' around with NXE" all at the same time. Just like every major Xbox update, there is a clogging of the system. It'll be back to normal soon.
I haven't had any problems, then again last Xmas I didn't have a single problem either.
@AchtungYall: I have been getting those errors, although it's not as bad as it was an hour ago. It's not just everyone playing with the NXE. The marketplace content is spread out all over the new dashboard, so it's being accessed a lot more often and throwing errors in places it wouldn't before. For instance, it searches the marketplace for available downloads whenever you view a game.
Not surprised. Not pissed off either. It's a huge update, and these little bugs were bound to happen. I'll just give it a couple of days for it to iron out while I play some games.
@scotty: The only issues I've encountered were a few strange things with netflix, and a retry has always worked. My guess is that most of the problems are simply because a lot more people than normal are messing around on XBL checking things out.
I, for one, will be using my xbox a lot more now that netflix is there and I don't have to worry as much about the DVD-Rom RRODing on me.
@RetroBob: Mine went smoothly enough. Took about 5-6 minutes. My friend had a bit of a hang up at the Terms of Service sections, but it snapped out of it after a minute or so.
@A.Y.B.A.B.T.U: Yeah, I was surprised at how quick it went. I have been experiencing errors whenever the dashboard tries to access anything from the Marketplace servers. They're probably getting hit pretty hard now that the marketplace is scattered all over the new dashboard.

Everything else is working wonderfully.

Just FYI, according to Bungie you should NOT install Halo 3. It will slow down loading times.

And the guide ubtton pops up a miniature blade...but does anybody else think it runs a little clunky? Like it's got some slowdown/lag happening?

That said, haven't experienced any issues with DLC...especially not the one people are talking about where they aren't tagged as "bought" anymore.
Crossing my fingers that it stays that way.
