Castlevania Judgment Review: You Don't Belong In This World
The long-running Castlevania series comes to the Wii as a 3D fighter with Castlevania Judgment. Yes, we've come to terms with series producer Koji Igarashi's solution to shoehorning some Dracula slaying onto Wii controls.
But will fans? Pitting thirteen Castlevania mainstays (and one newcomer) from over two decades against each other in a time-bending brawl may not seem like the best fit for series, known for its action adventure bent, but, to some degree, it works. A minor degree? Unfortunately, yes, but rabid fans may find some meat on these bones. See how we weighed in on Castlevania Judgment for the Wii in our review. More »

Suikoden: Tierkreis - The Communal DS RPG
Konami has unleashed a flurry of new art, screens, and information on Suikoden: Tierkrieis, the game that takes the hunt for the 108 Stars of Destiny to the Nintendo DS.
Due out in March of next year, Tierkreis promises all of the gameplay elements fans of the franchise know and love, along with a "rich online community experience" utilizing the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. Players will be able to send their characters on quests that other members of the community will complete for them, basically allowing for a giant community quest-pool. Once your character has made the rounds, they return to your game with a wealth of experience and treasures galore. It's a freaking communal RPG. I love it.
I also love the classic Suikoden art style, which if definitely represented here in all its clean and simple glory. Hit the jump for screens, character art, and a fact sheet chock-full of handy information. More »

Konami Boob Shooter Offers 115 Pin-Up Pictures
Finally, the Xbox 360 port of Konami arcade shooter Otomedius Gorgeous! has been released in Japan. The game was delayed about a month "to eradicate bugs and improve the quality even more." The Xbox 360 version has several modes: Original (arcade version), Gorgeous (wide screen), Online Multiplayer Mode. There is also a Gallery with 115 images you can stare at — and it doesn't seem like these images need to be unlocked or anything. What kind of images? Images of characters in skimpy outfits that can be zoomed in on. See below.

Nikkei Shimbun: Japan's Gaming Industry "Melancholy"
Gloom and doom! It's not only Japanese game developers who are saying Japan's days as gaming's dominant force are over, but so is the mainstream Japanese media. An article in Japan's Nikkei Shimbun, the country's equivalent of The Wall Street Journal, entitled "The Melancholy of Cool Japan" portrayed Japan's declining domestic game industry. As the article pointed out, the top two game companies in the world are no longer Japanese but American: EA and Activision Blizzard.
According to the piece, Japan's sagging game industry is the result of the country's declining birth rate. Another reason is apparently that 30-something-year-old gamers are busy with their families and jobs and have less time for gaming. The Japanese companies that should pull through this shifting and troubled market? Nikkei Shimbun says Square Enix, Tecmo and Konami. Huh, because we've heard that Capcom and Nintendo do okay outside Japan. Apparently.

Jade Raymond Presents Hideo Kojima With MTV's Lifetime Achievement Award
If you missed this past weekend's MTV Video Game Awards show, you're not alone and you're probably not German. The people of Deutschland get their own video game kudos broadcast, one big enough to get both Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond and Metal Gear Solid series producer Hideo Kojima on an international flight. You can't watch these clips online — they appear to be region restricted — but you can bask in the beauty of MTV's first video game lifetime achievement "game cube" award and drool over Kojima's sharp salary man suit. You can also watch Jade Raymond talk.

"Exclusive" MGS4 "Limited" Edition PS3 Winds Up At Walmart For $399
Boy, we really, really hope you didn't drop $599 (or more) of your hard-earned dollars on this "Konami.com exclusive" Metal Gear Solid 4 PlayStation 3 bundle that was going to be released in "very, very limited" quantities. And we hope you didn't tear your silky, well-conditioned hair out during the painful pre-ordering process. Because now it can be had for a comparative song at Walmart.com, reduced to just $399 USD.
That's the same price as the standard 80 GB model PS3 that Sony's offering sans packed-in game and $100 less than the new 160 GB SKU bundled with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Quantities may actually be genuinely limited this time and the offer appears to be online only, so if you're feeling froggy, we'd recommend jumpin'.

Guitar Hero Arcade: Some More Details, Some More Pics
Earlier in the week, bemanistyle said they'd heard about an Activision/Konami-branded Guitar Hero arcade game. Not the first time we'd seen one, but it was probably the first official one we'd see. We figured we'd see/hear more at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions get-together in Orlando during the week, and we are not to be disappointed. Bemanistyle today have some new info: the game will be "a modified version of Guitar Hero III" running on PC hardware, and the guitars will look like the new World Tour peripherals, but be built more in line with Konami's Guitar Freaks controller standards. So, yeah, indestructible guitars. In addition, online play will be supported, along with the possibility of online song updates. More » -

MGS Bande Dessinée Headed For DVD
Comic book fans! Did you know there was an even more pretentious way to refer to comics than 'graphic novel'? Thanks to our friends the French Bande Dessinée can be your go-to phrase when you want to compare The Punisher to Infinite Jest.
Which brings us to Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinée, a 'slideshow' movie based on Konami's game and released on UMD for the PSP last year.
Turns out (and - honestly - who saw this coming?) that even movies that resemble violent Powerpoint presentations look better on bigger screens, so Konami have 'ported' the flick to DVD. You may buy it now, if you wish.

Metal Gear Online Meme Expansion Dated
There isn't much of "later this year" left, so it's about time Konami gave us a solid date on the upcoming second expansion for Metal Gear Solid Online. The Meme expansion, first announced last month, should be available for download next week. November 25th to be exact, which places the release on a Tuesday. I would have expected it on a Thursday, but I suppose we'll be too busy murdering turkeys to shoot at each other.
The Meme expansion of course adds three new maps to Metal Gear Online, along with two new characters; Revolver Ocelot and the lovely Mei Ling, who has the means to transfix enemies by strutting her stuff. Hit the jump for new screens from the expansion. More »
