The game is based on post-apocalyptic martial arts manga Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken).

"Only in Japan, the game should sell a million copies," Matsubara told the Nihon Keisai Newspaper. According to the paper, the game is expected to launch worldwide, given the international familiarity with Fist of the North Star.

<![CDATA[First Footage of Tecmo Koei's New Game]]> As leaked yesterday in the upcoming issue of Japanese mag Famitsu, Tecmo Koei is hard at work on Fist of the North Star for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

The manga (Hokuto no Ken) debuted in 1983 and went on to spin off two animated series and motion pictures.

Dubbed Hokuto Musou, the game is scheduled for release sometime next year. Wasn't that interested — blurry magazine scans do that — but this leaked footage has me intrigued. Looks fun! With all that blood, wonder what rating it will get in Japan.

The clip is originally from Nico Nico Douga — hence the scrolling Japanese text.

<![CDATA[Booth Check: Koei Tecmo]]> Last night Koei Tecmo threw a little party at the Hotel New Otani. They introduced all of their developers and pointed out that in the U.S. they are called Tecmo Koei, but in Japan they are called Tecmo Koei.

They should probably figure that one out.

<![CDATA[Koei Tecmo Working On Corporate Cross Over Game]]> Japanese game makers Koei and Tecmo have merged, officially forming Koei Tecmo Holdings as of this April. But does that mean their games will merge as well?

According to the summer issue of industry publication Nikkei Corporate Information: "Tecmo and Koei are combining titles to launch a new game. The aim is to bring in fans of both."

There is no information about possible titles or a release window.

While Tecmo's most popular franchises are action game Ninja Gaiden and fighter Dead or Alive, Koei is best known for its hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors series.

Koei does have experience with cross-branding: Back in 2007, it developed Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, which featured the Namco Bandai's popular mecha. Dynasty Warriors: Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, anyone?

<![CDATA[Koei Tecmo Encourages Employees To Have Babies (With Money!)]]> The Japanese population is shrinking. People are not having babies like they used to. Koei Tecmo, the folks behind hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors and boobs-and-high-kicks Dead or Alive, to the rescue!

Starting this month, the company is offering the a gift payment that's the equivalent of US$20,300 to employees who have their third child. Those having their first child get roughly $1,000, and those having their second child get approximately $2,000.

Before the two companies merged, each provided child birth payments of $1,000 for each child. No word if those having their fourth, fifth or sixth child will also get that 20 grand payment — or merely sympathy. Kidding.

Know what else Koei Tecmo is also planning on doing? Docking pay each time an employee masturbates. Likewise, kidding!

<![CDATA[Koei Tecmo Donates To Italian Earthquake Relief Effort]]> Earlier last month, a deadly earthquake rocked Italy's mountainous Abruzzo region, killing hundreds and leaving tens of thousands homeless.

Koei Tecmo Holdings, makers of Dynasty Warriors and Dead or Alive, and connected company staffers have pitched in and donated ¥3,470,000 (US$35,205) to the earthquake's relief effort. Every bit helps.

<![CDATA[Koei Tecmo Reveals Its New Company Logo (Looks Familiar)]]> Back in January, Tecmo and Koei officially merged. The merger created a joint holding company called Koei Tecmo Holdings as of April 1, when the new financial year starts.

In Japan, it's April 1, and Koei Tecmo Holdings has unveiled its new corporate logo. The logo not only combines the aesthetics of standard Koei logo with the Tecmo "T" and corporate red color. It also appears to be inspired by some of the more well known features of Tecmo's Dead or Alive franchise.

Last fall, Tecmo turned down Square Enix's offer of a friendly takeover. Instead, Tecmo commenced merger talks with Koei, stating that both "companies have excellent financial positions, strengths and the ability to take advantage of each other in order to improve profitability and solidified the foundation of a worldwide leader."

Square Enix has since purchased UK company Eidos, which is best known for the Tomb Raider. Perhaps they will also unveil a new logo as voluptuous as this one.
