Downloaded this at about 3 a.m. my time. Have to say it's pretty cool so far and a lot more fleshed out than I was expecting. I especially like seeing snow again.
What a trip! Second best demon door IMO, the Farmstead being number one of course. Great way of keeping husband number one from meeting wife number three.
I'm angry that I picked The Family at the end of the game now. I would have picked The Sacrifice or Wealth instead if I knew that this DLC would do this.
yes but can anyone tell us does he stay with you are is it a one time only kinda thing that you only use on the island? or can you bring him back to the mainland and do other quests....
Still won't bring back your family.... which no ones seems to much care about anyhow...
@shadowslayer978: Lucky for you, you own the game so you can play it whenever you want!
Plus the main quest is short. Short enough to complete in a day's sitting. I myself have finished it twice, both as good and as evil, in just under two weeks, playing an hour or two a night.
@Omnimon: That's the same as saying a spoiler, then saying "NOT!" at the end. Humor doesn't exactly cut it.
Plus, it's not as if we all read the dev blogs ourselves. Crecente carefully marked it as spoiler in his other post. Plus, you had a crapload of screenshots to put it under.
@Ashurahori: I would have definitely appreciated a spoiler warning. Because it's well known they spoiled it on their developer blog I come here to read about it instead. Thanks Fahey.
Kinda glad, kinda not. Now I can finish other quests that I would've rather had the dog for (archaeologist), however as some have already said, it takes some of the punch away from the previous ending(s).
Choosing to save others instead of my family or give myself a hoard of money had real weight in the game. Afterward I purchased the big plots of land that also were tied to quests, and I did so without my furry friend. It made a difference to me to do it alone, as I no longer heard his collar clinking along beside me.
But now if he's back (IF that's what they're really saying) it saps the emotional impact for the next game I play. Now I know I can choose the greed option and still go get good ole Keiser back.
@Durdon: Yes it potentially saps it but I think the consequences are migitated simply for the fact that the Knothole experience was released as DLC instead of being part of the main release. Players may still come to this game unspoiled and get the full effect and then choose to get eventually download the DLC and be rewarded with the surprise. It's possible...(btw Bruce Willis in Sixth Sense is dead the entire film.)
Besides much of the impact of the first play through will have been made less emotional for subsequent play throughs anyway, with or without this expansion or it's resurrection feature.

I was lucky enough to never have game-stopping problems that have been posted about here. I still love the game though, so I'm convinced already.

The second half of the game is worth going back and playing the second half of the game for.

Oops. The above was supposed to have a quote: "a special Weight Loss Potion"
and then my response of:
"Finally! I'm really getting sick of 'flaccid celery.'"
Now the whole thing's been destroyed.
