I'm fairly certain in that despite their goals to "give fans all the answers they've been looking for", they actually won't. How could they? How can Kane's history and apparent immortality, plus the true origins of NOD be explained over the course of a few FMV sequences? Tiberium's true nature, and relation to the Scrin, is explained as well?
There are too many questions to be answered with a single game, concluding, as they say, a 15 year old franchise.
@Atheist Jew: You'd be surprised the amount of plot holes that can be filled in one go. Star Wars ep 3? Harry Potter 7? Battlestar Galactica finale? They totally got everything covered, without feeling any bit rushed or compressed.
Wow, what a cop out. I haven't been playing this series all these years to see them join up together all cuddly and snuggly. Beat the shit out of each other! Give Kane the big bitch slap he deserves. Don't team up against some "unstoppable threat." Just keep it simple. Good vs. evil. Which one wins? The player decides. Although, I do like the idea of Tiberium destroying the planet...sounds a lot like fossil fuels.
@Nirolak: "As a nice side effect, since C&C4 requires players to be online all the time in order to prevent cheating, we'll be shipping without any form of DRM."
Are they finally starting to clue in? This looks good.
@glardchia: They can't stop you from playing offline. One way or another, offline play will most certainly be available. That being said, I think it's reasonable not to accrue XP if you're playing offline.
@Charax: Between that or allowing cheaters free reign over the XP system, well... Sorry. :/
What would be the problem with just capping the XP you can get in offline play? That way, even if people cheat to all hell, they'll still not get the max XP, just the max you can earn from skirmishes and/or campaign play.
Multiplayer for the first few weeks is going to suck though. The most frustrating thing about the C&C games is having to earn all the old favourite units back over the course over a game, now you have to do it in MP too? ouch.

Seriously, I have yet to see an RTS that requires you to play online and online only. Which would definitely screw the campaign mode up.

Whatever the case, I'm thinking it can't be worse than the activation/deactivation nonsense we were burdened with for some other games.
