Hendrix fans get three more downloadable master tracks come November 13, Activision announced today. The three tracks are “If 6 was 9,” rhythm and blues classic “Little Wing,” and a live version of “Fire”. The pack will sell for 440 Microsoft points or $5.49, depending on your platform.

Activision doesn't list a price for the Wii version of the tracks leading me to believe that for some reason the musician isn't coming to the white box. I've contact the company to try and find out why.

Activision also announced that three tracks from The Raconteurs will be hitting on Nov. 20. That track pack, featuring Your Solution,” “Hold Up” and “Consoler of the Lonely”, will sell for 160 points on the 360, $1.99 on the PS3 and 200 Wii Points.

<![CDATA[Slash "Announces" Guitar Hero: Jimi Hendrix?]]> In an interview with Rolling Stone, former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash gets chatty about Guitar Hero. Talk the Aerosmith version, talks the Metallica version, then talks about a version we didn't know yet existed, saying Neversoft are "doing a Hendrix one, which is great". You know, it would be great! If that's indeed the case. Course, Slash being a rock star, and not a games developer/Activision PR representative, he could just be talking about the recent announcement from Activision that several Hendrix tracks would be appearing in Guitar Hero: World Tour.

<![CDATA[Jimi Hendrix Confirmed For Guitar Hero]]> It's been confirmed by Jimi Hendrix's estate that several of his tracks will be appearing in the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour. Janie Hendrix - who oversees the late guitar god's estate - says that after originally being unable to locate a ton of master tracks (indicating, perhaps, this deal's been in the works for quite some time?), they've now been found, and promptly made available to Neversoft. Three of the songs mentioned are Purple Haze, Foxy Lady & Little Wing. Janie says of the deal "Guitar Hero really was on the ball and and they were biting at the bit to get this out this year, so, we just accommodated them...Jimi was a kid at heart — he definitely would have played these games". Whether that's true or not is besides the point. Purple Haze, people. Purple. Haze.

<![CDATA[Hendrix Posthumously Plays Guitar Hero]]> Marketing students take heed - it's much easier to obtain an endorsement for your product from a true legend of rock and roll after they've been dead for a couple decades. To celebrate the two live Guitar Hero performances taking place at this year's Isle of Wight music festival, Activision has added a few "improvements" to the bronze stature of Jimi Hendrix located at the island's Dimbola Lodge, converting Jimi's guitar into a Guitar Hero controller.

Blasphemy, or marketing genius? For me it comes off as being in slightly bad taste, but your results may vary. I do have to wonder what comes next? Will EA dig up The Who's drummer Keith Moon and plunk him down in front of a plastic drum set? Of course not, Keith Moon was cremated. A pile of ashes sitting in front of Rock Band drums would look ridiculous.
