@peterpanpiper2: These shirts were created to thumb their nose at the huge fanboy outcry that D3 wasn't as dark or moody as the first 2 when the first videos/playable levels came out.
People who see like 0.1% of a game, then form an opinion about the entire game based of that 20 second clip.... stupid. These shirts were designed to annoy those people.
@Fluorine: On the other hand I have seen a lot of gameplay footage and it seems as if the dungeons seem to have less of that dark fog of war that kept you on your toes. Now it just seems as if they are brightly lit and somewhat more colorful which annoys me.
Of course ActiBliz would still have to prove that the word Diablo was being used to refer to the video game (as that is the class under which the TM is registered), in an effort to profit off of the Blizzard trademark "Diablo". Which wouldn't be too tough for a lawyer who can string two sentences together.
People can get pretty sneaky with stuff. Just an example, Jinx.com sells a lot of video game stuff, mostly licensed stuff from WoW and a few others. But they also have a shirt featuring the coins from Mario Bros. that has "Coins Rule Everything Around Me" printed on it. Though we all know what they're saying, they can't outright say "Here is a Mario Coin shirt" cause they don't got no license for nintendo. So they work around it.
@BryanH: The major difference here being that while the coin from Mario is a relatively incidental item, the Little Ponies from "My Little Pony" are the entire property.
Make 'em bunnies instead and all is well.
Of course, for ActiBlizz to get sued for this, someone would have to care enough to sue. Not sure how litigious MLP's owners are.
I'm actually just about to break in to Diablo with the second (battlechest) when it arrives and i have to say that the whole rune thing is one area i'm confused with in my pre-install readings.
as with breaking in to WoW, the shorthand and abbreviations tends to set my head spinning as well as build names.
But since it's blizzard, and this feature is, as fahey said, indicating D3 is a ways off, i'm confident i've got time to dig in to 2 a good bit in preperation.
@Archaotic: yeah i'm starting to understand a bit. what really threw me off was the runewords, i didn't realize that they changed the name of the item to the runeword instead of just adding it to the stats section.

They don't own the word Diablo or the number 3. As long as I or you do not use their font or characters or anything else from the game... we're good.
Erm... or so I have heard.

Guess again.

7-11 does not own the number 7 or the number 11.

Unless there are My Little Pony toys that are unicorns. I don't know, I'm only into Bratz and Polly Pocket.

Started playing Diablo II last night. The widescreen mod/patch is awesome.
