Instead, we get this guy.

That's Adam Croasdell, who plays Walford's Dr Al Jenkins, will also be playing 007 in next year's Activision published, Bizarre Creations developed Bond game. The actor revealed his participation in the game during a recent interview with BBC Asian Network.

"Oddly enough I have just played James Bond in the new James Bond video game - how weird is that? I don't know what the future holds, but I'm always into varying up what comes my way, trying new things."

It makes sense. With Activision planning on serializing the Bond franchise, it was unlikely that Daniel Craig would be available for regular dialogue recording on top of his busy film career. Croasdell is more than happy to step in.

"I think video games and the making of that type of technology, being in a funny one-piece suit and being shot with 60 cameras, I think that's sort of the future. Andy Serkis did it in The Hobbit, and there's a new film Avatar which is James Cameron - it's all that sort of motion capture. I think it's the future, so I was fascinated to see how that would happen.

<![CDATA[ActiBlizz Confirms Tony Hawk, Bond For 2010, Dances Around Diablo]]> Activision Blizzard execs listed a bunch of new games for 2010 during a conference call today but declined to be anything other than cagey on the topic of Diablo III.

The company's CEO, Mike Griffith said that, in addition to the delayed Singularity, now expected between January and the end of March, the company will publish new games in the James Bond, Tony Hawk and Spider-Man franchises. Griffith also promised tie-ins to Dreamworks movies Shrek 4 and How To Train Your Dragon. More mysterious was his reference to an unnamed "innovative property in the $4 billion action genre."

Later in the call, a financial analyst tried to get top Blizzard exec, Mike Morhaime, to clarify whether the delay of StarCraft II to 2010 would push back an anticipated 2010 release for the studio's Diablo III. The analyst recalled an earlier comment by a Blizzard representative that the studio would release a single major game per year.

"The move of StarCraft into next year does not impact the schedule," Morhaime said. "And so it would be correct to conclude that you could expect two releases of Blizzard for next year. But I would not make any conclusions on what those titles would be."

Activision also announced plans to offer "new releases" in the Call of Duty series next year, though how those releases will mix downloadable map packs for existing games and brand-new games was not specified.

<![CDATA[Ghostbusters Coming To iPhone, James Bond Along For The Ride]]> Sony Pictures Television want to make money off this while iPhone gaming craze thing. So they're releasing a number of games based on Sony properties, like Ghostbusters and James Bond.

We know nothing except projected release dates. Ghostbusters will be out in June, while the Bond title - called "Top Agent" - will be out in August, and will include some kind of multiplayer feature.

In addition to those movie properties, Sony also own the mobile rights to Q*Bert, so will be releasing the first official version of the game on the iPhone. Oh, and as far as regular mobile phones go, they'll also be putting out a Voltron game later in the year.

<![CDATA[James Bond Racer Delayed to 2010]]> The James Bond racing game, which we first caught wind of late last year, has been pushed back to 2010 to give Bizarre Creations a bit more development breathing room.

The game is said to be a third-person Bond game that's racing and driving focused. But they're also working on a second racing game, described last year as Mario Kart meets Forza.

With both games on their plate, Activision wants to make sure that the developer will have plenty of time to make sure the games shine.

Activision publishing president Mike Griffith said the game was moved away from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and a crowded holiday slate, two factors which he said " negatively affected" the sales of its previous Bond effort, Quantum of Solace.

<![CDATA[Activision: Next Tony Hawk Is Hands-Free, New Bond, Call of Duty Due 2009]]> Executives from Activision are dishing dirt on the company's upcoming releases at an in-game advertising summit hosted by Massive. That means more Call of Duty, more James Bond and confirmation on Tony Hawk's reinvented controls.

And while new entries in the Call of Duty series is a given, as is further exploitation of the Bond license — this time, by Bizarre Creations — the fact that you're "not going to be playing Tony Hawk [with] a controller in your hands" will probably come as a surprise to some gamers who haven't been keeping up. Let's just hope whoever is at the helm improves upon what Skate It did.

Newsweek blogger/griot N'Gai Croal is twittering like a man possessed at the Massive summit, reporting that the next Call of Duty, back in Infinity Ward's hands again, will hit Fall of 2009.

Activision-published siblings Bizarre Creations are said to be "working on 3rd person Bond game for 2009" that's "racing and driving focused" as well as a second racing game described as "Mario Kart meets Forza." The former project jibes with a rumor from last December, so we'd expect this one has been in development for a significant period.

Little of that will probably come as a surprise to anyone following the Activision development hamster wheel, but it's good to know that the wholly owned Bizarre isn't just sitting on its hands. We'll be keeping an eye on N'Gai's Blackberry fingering for those sweet nuggets of info.

<![CDATA[Becoming Bond Quantum of Solace Trailer]]>
Sure, the Quantum of Solace movie is getting a mixed buzz, but that hasn't dampened our interest in the QoS game. The Activision title runs on a modded Call of Duty 4 engine, which just sounds great. We can already hear the Bond theme in our head. We always here it, you know — especially when we walk around our local shopping mall in sunglasses.

<![CDATA[New James Bond: Quantum of Solace Behind the Scenes Trailer Talks Environments]]>
Just as the title says, this latest video from Activision talks about how the developers are translating the environments from the film to the game. Unfortunately, there isn't much to see here in terms of gameplay, and interestingly there seems to be a lot of footage from the last movie. You can expect the game out about two weeks before the movie November 4th.

Be the man every woman wants and every man wants to be. This is obviously not new news in any form or fashion, but come on people! we the gamers demand James Bond goodness! Hopefully Quantum of Solace will deliver what we've all been longing for.

<![CDATA[Treyarch On The Legacy Of EA's Sucky Bond Games]]> Goldeneye was a good Bond game. The last good Bond game, really. Problem being, Goldeneye was a loooooong time ago, and there have been a lot of Bond games since. So that's a problem for current Bond developers Treyarch, right? Nope! Those sucky games were all EA's fault:

We’re not trying to fix anything EA did wrong, because that’s just what they did. I’m sure the series pissed off a lot of gamers over the last few years as the games started to go downhill, but we have no control over that.

Hope your body can cash those cheques your mouth's writing, Treyarch!

<![CDATA[First Quantum Of Solace Screens]]> Here we have our first look at Activision's stab at the James Bond game, Quantum of Solace, based on the upcoming film of the same name. So far it looks exactly as one would expect...your standard FPS with 3rd person elements in which you play as a 3D model that bears a creepy resemblance to Daniel Craig. Aside from Craig's plastic mug, nothing much standing out here, though with EA leaving the bar set so low, average is actually a step up.

<![CDATA[First Details On Activision's Debut Bond Game]]> Courtesy of British mag GamesMaster, we now have our first information on just what Activision’s first Bond game – Quantum of Solace – is all about. Seems it’s a first-person shooter, with occasional third-person moments when the action dictates the switch, and will be based on both Casino Royale and the upcoming flick with which the game shares its name. Oh, and QTEs will feature as well. Worth at least the benefit of your doubt, if only because it can't be any worse than the past few EA Bond games.

<![CDATA[Bizarre Creations Taking On 007?]]> The latest issue of EGM is hitting subscriber mailboxes now, giving them a proper first look at Street Fighter IV. But the mag's long-running Quartermann-collected rumors are pointing to a new game from Geometry Wars and Project Gotham Racing developer Bizarre Creations. Quartermann writes that Bizarre's new owner, Activision, may already have them hard at work on a new driving title, one set in the James Bond universe. The title could feature "a load of driving elements," something Bizarre knows a thing or two about.

Of course, it's Bond, so gadgetry and missile launching Aston Martins sound like a strong possibility. Bizarre sure knows shooting, too. With the twenty-second Bond picture scheduled for a 2008 release, we might hear more about this rumored project very soon.

<![CDATA[James Bond Addicted To Gaming]]> Daniel Craig isn't just the closest an actor has ever come to fitting Ian Fleming's original vision for James Bond - he's also an avid gamer, with the same issues many a gamer faces. Issues like trying to find time to play Halo with his unappreciative girlfriend breathing down his neck. Of course his girlfriend is hottie film producer Satsuki Mitchell, but fundamentally it's the same thing.

"I have to pick my time well. If my girlfriend sees the box then it's all over. If I get some free time, when she goes away for the weekend, I'll go and play some games.
This is why gamer guys make the best boyfriends, ladies. When you leave your gamer alone for any extended period of time - even if he's an internationally famous sex-symbol - he's not going to cheat unless he has a Game Shark. Sure we sometimes forget you're there, but once we get to a save point it's on!

<![CDATA[Arcade Classics Gonna Shoot Up PS3?]]>

A wise man once said: "If someone else has a good idea, copy it like hell." That person of course did not come up with that aphorism, but swiped it. Sony, never content with what it creates itself and more than happy to borrow from others, likewise says that classic arcade games are headed to the PS3. Sure, this is territory Microsoft has covered before, but who cares? Good news if you ask me!

The company's John Hight says:

Sony's third party publishers will undoubtedly provide updated versions of classic arcade games... We've arbitrarily set a limit of 500MB to keep download times reasonable... [But] Since we've got plenty of HD space we can accommodate even bigger games and a lot of them.

Well, that sounds fine and dandy. I'm all for filling up my 60GB hard drive with more than Casino Royale trailers. (Though, that new Bond dude does look cool as Christmas.)
