The studio / publisher decides. the AAA rating just refers to how much value the owners attach, in turn how much money gets spent on making the game and all the advertising to go with it. It doesn't really adhere to cult status but obviously a AAA rated game should and usually has massive fan support. But it's not that a game might do really well, then becomes AAa after release because so many people liked it etc.

I think that the reasoning companies are shifting is because the videogame industry is getting to the point where it's big enough, and mainstream enough, to warrant such things. You see things like that in the movies all the time, with people referring to Ponyo as 'the newest Miyazaki movie' and not just 'that anime movie that came out recently.' Probably not the best example, but it served its purpose.
My guess as to why the consumers are doing it is pretty simple: we're growing up. A lot of people are just coming into the world of videogames, but a lot of us have grown up with games. So, I've been playing Zelda games all my life and I've come to recognize a few names associated with the works. I really enjoy Valve games, so I've come to recognize the names of Gabe Newell and Kelly Bailey, among others.
Finally, the reason most people are interested in this particular person is because this is the internet, and for some reason guys on the internet flip shit whenever they see a member of the opposite sex.

You shouldn't show disgust towards people when they are voicing such an opinion... There is nothing disgusting or offensive about sexual comments or references, its natural and a part of life.
Suggestive in itself doesn't imply disgusting, just a bit "suggestive" exactly as you put it. While its not necessary, neither is your commenting against it, or any of the comments on this site... and its certainly not offensive. There is no prejudice, women are entitled to the same rights to say such things and it is not relegated to the male sex.
What's more, your 15 you shouldn't be swearing :D

How can you say that this kind of thing is disgusting when your using one simple example in one specific context.
for example i may say "she's fucking hot" on the internet or to a friend, or something suggestive, or more sexual, but this is nothing to do with what we might say to their face... if i met jade raymond i wouldn't be discussing her body with her, id speak to her about how great her game is, and id be a perfect gentleman, however assuming finding somebody extremely sexually attractive and saying so IS NOT AT ALL offensive or disgusting.... so you know, get a life and get a grip man.

Err, uh, as a female, I make as many hollers at men I don't know as much as the guys do with the girls. (used to go to school near a Army base, WOOOT!)
I personally don't think Jade is that hot but I can see why guys might.
Basically, what I want to say is chillax, after the fiasco with AC I don't think Jade NEEDS any defenders. Ubisoft 'pimped' her to sell a subpar game, that's what happened. I think Jade is pretty aware of her 'appeal' to the gamer demo (her face SELLS games now for better or worse...) so it's nice that you want to but really, not necessary.
And you're not helping your cost by labeling everyone that cat calls her 'Misogynistic Assgerbils..'

There is nothign wrong with making slighty sexual comments regarding Jade because, she is in fact a young and pretty gamer and now shes the head of a locale at a major studio.

That's it, I have my opinions, I have a vision of the way I want the world to be, and I'll do my best to work for that. As far as I'm concerned, this is just a lesson I've learned.

Also, just watch how women react to those comments in different situations. There is a reason they say women love assholes(or shall I say overly confident men). Even though it sucks, it's the way it seems to work out most of the time. Good luck in your endeavors.

Not going to lie to you buddy, but in the context of an internet forum, you sound like a tool. You can't respect a woman on a forum, while also making some juvenile comment about sitting on your face.
You have to make the comments subtle, and make them funny. The large majority of comments here are by horny 15 year olds who don't know how to respect a woman.
If you make lewd comments like "Sit on my Face" to people at work, you're an accident waiting to happen. I've seen people fired before, I've seen them disgraced. Sexual harassment isn't a joke, it's real. You must think you're a hotshot if you speak to co-workers that way.
I'd say that you're most likely the one who doesn't know many women. You have to know someone before you can assume that they'll laugh off sexual innuendo.
I don't want to censor people, but this says a lot about the geek aspect of gaming culture. Most of these guys wouldn't know what to do with a woman if she sat on their face.

Comments can be subtle and/or funny, but if they aren't it doesn't mean they're automatically disrespectful. A bad joke or lewd comment might have just been a failure as a joke, it isn't automatically disrespectful. A lot of comments on here are made by 15 year old boys, but most of them are all the same, saying that she's hot. The only ones I would call disrespectful are in regards to her sleeping her way to the top, and even then most of them are meant to be jokes. Very few comments are actually implying she did such a thing. They may have not been funny, but their intent isn't to harm.
I have made plenty of comments to women at work, because thankfully I work with cool women who are my friends. It's not like I would smack a girls ass that I didn't know as I pass her in the hallway. I'm not sure why you would assume such a thing, that's just stupid. A hotshot? No. I just work with women who aren't uptight princesses about everything. I can comment or insinuate just about anything and it's no big deal.
I think it's funny that you think I don't know any women based on a few comments online. I know plenty of women, and like I said, they are cool girls. In fact I'm surrounded by girls at work (for some reason there's only one other guy in my area) and I get along really well with all of them. I've also been with my girlfriend for over 8 years, so I like to think I know just a bit about women.
I agree not knowing what to do with a woman if she sat on your face is quite pathetic. Sadly it's true for a lot of people here.
It doesn't say anything about geek culture, hell it doesn't even say anything about 15 year old boys either. They're full of testosterone and lack a lot of basic fundamentals in life. Even still, I only saw one or two actually disrespectful comments out of hundreds, so really they did pretty well.
