There will be speakers like Pixar's Brad Lewis (Maybe the site means Brad Bird?), Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Devil May Cry 4), Will Wright of Will Wright fame, plus Pixar Director of Photography Sharon Calahan and Total Annihilation creator Chris Taylor. <![CDATA[ Dario Argento In Dead Space ]]> Italian horror filmmaker Dario Argento (Suspiria, Deep Red) is doing voice work for EA's scary sci-fi title Dead Space. According to EA, the director lent his horror know-how in actively creating character Doctor Kyne. Here's the catch: His voice work will only appear in the Italian version. That's good for those who understand Italian, but not so good for those who don't. Still, it's neat to see Argento lend his name to the project. Don't think we can master the Italian language in time for the October 14th shipdate.

<![CDATA[ Are The Kids Still Hot For Lara? ]]> Shhhh. It's Kotaku After Dark. Time to dim the lights, pull the door closed and look at these. This. These. This Italian minx is Silvia Shon, and Silvia likes Tomb Raider. That or she thinks a Tomb Raider-inspired calendar - with naughty bits - will still do good business on the internet. Could be both, but is probably the latter. This has absolutely nothing to do with SCi or Eidos, and is already two months late, so don't expect a marketing blitz. What you can expect are Lara Croft poses and, predictably, lady bits. Clicking through while at work is not advised.

<![CDATA[ Italian Retailers Boot PS3 Street Date ]]>

This isn't simply a case of some lucky guy getting his PS3 early by mistake. No, this is two relatively big retail chains in Italy making a conscious decision to break the street date on the PS3 by two days.

First retail chain Darcy announced they would be selling the system at 7pm today in major newspapers across the country. Then rival Media World, fearing lost business, announced they would start selling this morning at 9am.

GameStop stores in Italy have remained firm on the street date despite the fact that if any chain could break a street date unscathed, they'd be the one. I'm not ruling out the possibility that they are hard at work building a time machine so they can beat Media World to the punch.

Sony is understandably pissed, but like parents around the world, they call it disappointed.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz a Sony spokesperson said, "Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is deeply disappointed by the unilateral decision of some Italian retail chains to commence the sale of PlayStation 3 to consumers before this official launch date.

Sony is carefully considering what actions they will take against the offending chains. I suggest they buy them, sell them, and split the profits between the poor specialty game stores out there that are now completely screwed by this move.

<![CDATA[ Space Invaders Invade Italy ]]>

There is a Space Invader in this pic. Can you find it? Reader Ruining Heaven sends word that on his way to Kenya, he stopped over in Italy. He provides this sole hint:

Lo, while strolling on Via Nazionale near Termini station in Rome, I came across a local map adorned with Crecente's torrid lover, Space Invaders.

Answer after the jump.

<![CDATA[ Mario Spotted... In Italy! ]]>

That Mario you see now is not the real Mario. He's a stand-in, a doppelganger. The true Mario fled sometime after the travesty known as Mario Party 4 was forced upon the general public. The question's been, where did he go? Reader Thanius found out:

Me and my girlfriend went to Calabria, Italy for our vacation this year. We were strolling around in the old parts of the town Tropea where we stayed, when suddenly we walk past this stand. It seems that Mario has retired from the plumbing-/salvation-/karting-/sports-/cameo-/whatever-business and started his own candy/crappy toy-stand.

I must congratulate Nintendo, because that new guy they got to replace Mario looks EXACTLY like him.
