This looks very impressive. For now i'm noy gonna buy because i'm still waving through Zenonia, Hybrid (3 bucks right now!), Inotia and Underworlds... so i supose in a couple of months that i'm through with all those games i'm gonna buy this and dungeon hunter.
I'm pretty pleased (save for my poor battery) with the amount of gaming i'm doing on the phone and the price of the games.
But wow... that runs on an iPhone? And it looks like that? Dear me... I can't begin to think what the next iPhone will be able to do. Have babies... with me? Yes?
Video games are becoming so advanced and so fast, I don't even know what I'll be playing, or how, in five years.
1. Go for electronic goods first.
2. Avoid being trampled.
3. Avoid bringing children along. They have small hands.
3. Utilize the "drop-kick" when necessary.
4. Take no prisoners.
@Kobun: Strangely I still have the access to go down to my local Casino and play racing games and a wide variety of games for me to stand up. Then of course, there's the midway games (and not the company).
@Portalgamer19: My local casinos don't have arcades, at least any that I'm aware. That's possibly because they're all standalone casinos with no room and board making them an unlikely family outing, at least enough to consider having an arcade. The ones in Biloxi were built with hotels, and I know one of them at least used to have an arcade. Maybe when I'm bored one day I'll make the drive to check it out.
RE: iTunes card... In Canada (I know, same old sad song) Apple does not allow you to spend card credits on apps.
I had a card that I never used for songs and figured now that I have an iPod Touch this would be the perfect way to spend it. I thought the point of the cards was to be "as good as cash." Nope. And a careful read of the TOS revealed that I should have never expected it to. Even though it is there in carefully crafted black and white legalese it still begs the question why.
It is beyond belief really, since there is no legislation in Canada that would prevent Apple from allowing the cards to be used towards apps. Don't you like money Apple?
Why, oh why, is Canada constantly being techno-capped? (Netflix, last.fm, Pandora, Hulu, higher game pricing even when exchange is at par...)
@Gaseous_Snake: I tried just this week to purchase a bunch of .99 cent apps after adding an card to my account but the purchases all came off my credit card instead. I researched around and I don't think Apple has changed their mind about this.
Here's a recent article about it. The government official's letter/response stating that there is no legislation preventing Apple from allowing it is shown in the article.
@Quipp: Sorry about the double post, but on the App Store on your iPod, if you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the main Featured page, there's a little "Redeem" button and all sorts of things about redeeming iTunes gift cards and etc.
HAVING SAID THAT, I have not tried it myself and I have not read any documentation that refutes your research.
@Falsoman: I bought and finished World of Tunes yesterday, I love rhythm games and I like that this one introduces a lot of new gestures. Soosiz will be next!
@Trunks: Very good, just remember that WoT has a couple of extra songs when you are not playing Story mode (in the little star on the bottom of free play). And the crazy mode is... well... crazy!
And Soosiz is a lot longer, but maybe not as tough.
@Female Orca: Not a cash-in, it offers more to the tap-and-shoot genre. Think of it as Time Crisis with better graphics and no real time limit. You can also go into sniper mode to hit more distant targets and pick up power-ups to regen health and temporary invulnerability. Perfect port of sounds and music from the game too.
@shouryuuken: Chillingo made some cool games too! Excellent Hybrid suggestion though, one of the coolest games (over any platforms) that I have played in a while. BB SuperStars 2010 is awesome as well.
@shouryuuken: looks cool, I just try to remember that any iphone game video/screenshot should have at least 25% of it covered up with my finger at all times.
@BasedOnLuck: best game on the thing i think.. controls arent bad, perfect time killer, excellent music and concept.. and it just looks good.
i think the iphone/ipod touch have lots of potential as game devices, i mean if i were apple.. id slap real controls on the touch and sell it as a standalone gaming device. with controls, itd definitely be a better gaming device than an mp3 player.. i wouldnt have bought mine if i wasnt a fanboy of all things gaming (and mobile games suck on my blackberry lol).
I don't own an iPhone, but I was considering asking for one for my birthday next february - I quite like them, but have always been held back by their O2 network exclusivity (my parents are wierd about phone providers and haven't strayed from Orange since their very first phones). But now they're available on Orange, i'm noting a few of these down as possible purchases. They look interesting to say the least!
Am I right in saying iPod Touch games also work on an iPhone, and visa versa? I only ask because I was interested in Star Wars: Trench Run, but i've only seen that touted as an iPod Touch game, and that's another I'd like to add to list of potential iPhone games.
One more time: Why does Kotaku have weekly iphone/ipod chart toppers, but nothing else? Is apple paying for this, or something? Why aren't there chart toppers for the 360, ps3, wii, etc? The gaming consoles? On the gaming website? I don't quite get it.
@WhiteMåge: Probably because these reports are based off of released information. For example, you do see the reports of which Wii games have the most average play time from participating users of the Nintendo channel.

A while ago, I had a pretty traumatic experience before involving a gift card, an iPod Touch and my girlfriend. Dicey stuff.

My only complaint would be the music. It's okay, but it's not Space Invaders Extreme.
