That's a good idea. Let's try to backwards-describe other video games.

Doom is kind of like Halo but you can't jump or look up and down or regenerate health.

Zork is like Myst but there are no pictures.

Super Mario Bros. is like Ratchet and Clank but not 3d and you can only run right and you can't have any guns or do any attacks except jumping. #bejeweled2

I just played this in "the world" and it was actually pretty damn fun.

I haven't played the thing on facebook, as i carry my iPhone everywere and preffer the touchscreen VS mouse for these kind of games.

Anyhow... i'm quite happy with this update! #bejeweled2

GnG is surprisingly playable. Much easier than the original, tho. #rtype

@PorkPie: If it's "much easier" then it isn't GnG.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene requires pretty fast, precise controls, and plays splendidly on the iPhone. It doesn't use an on-screen d-pad, you just put your thumb on the screen and the slightest movement will move the ship. It works great. rRootage on the iPhone uses this too. It's certainly a viable platform for shmups. #rtype

@SmokeyZeke: you made my argument, sir: Space Invaders Infinity Gene is a very good shmup and is really playable with touch controls.
I wouldn't be so negative about R-Type on iPhone. If they go the "drag to move, auto-fire" way, it could be a blast to play.

EDIT: and by reading the full article on TouchArcade, we will have "D-pad, touch, and tilt controls". Pretty sure that D-pad will suck, touch could be good, and ... tilt? How do you play tilt?!

Apple must have sponsored that. About 50% of the people buying these games will need to buy a new iPhone after their fits of destructive rage. #rtype

Its pretty impressive the amount of games that are currently being ported to the iPhone. It is getting quite alot of interest from big IP's.

But still, I do not and never will see it as a gaming platform. The same way I don't see any phone as a gaming platform.

Call me close minded if you like. #rtype

In reply to iPhone Chart Toppers: Jelly Car 2 Rocks the List
You know, we're always talking about iPhone games out here. Why don't we give a bit of attention to the Android App store? They have quite a few fun games over there too.

A friend of mine actually created a pretty fun called Stroids. Nice upgraded throwback to an old game (with some nice graphical hacks that makes it look like the old android phones look more powerful than they really are). #ipodtouch

I'm not sure if you have a review of Jelly Car 2, but the link goes to the Rock Band review. Also, the Scrabble link goes to the Sims 3 review. #ipodtouch

@RoboticSpacePenguin: Looks like it's fixed now. Anyone played Jelly Car 2? I thought the first one was fun in an abstract way, is this one more structured? #ipodtouch

I've hated Apple ever since my elementary school days. The computer labs had those old Apple II computers that took forever to load. The IBM compatible one I had at home never had that kind of a problem. #johncarmack

"Cool" people don't play video games. That's for lame nerds. We'll take their money too though.

In reply to iPhone Games Caught Stealing Phone Numbers?
My friend was asking me the other day why he was all of a sudden gettting 10-20 text messages a day that are spam. he's had his iphone for 2 weeks and has Vampires Live and iMobsters. It could be a coincidence, but it seems like they may have sold his number.

Thanks for the info Kotaku, as I will be watching this very closely (pulls out magnifying glass) #iphone
