Don't worry people, they'll find some other way to make you pay.
I can't believe all of those years I've hated Verizon, that they would come along and be the hero. The day I got FIOS, I will never forget it. And I haven't looked back since.
By the way, I still hate Verizon, but FIOS is EXCELLENT.
@Curse_Lily: You know, I really gotta say, if my ISP suddenly started (full disclosure - I use Time Warner Cable for my internet) putting bandwidth caps on my usage, one of the *first* things I'd do is either go all-cabled or secure my wireless network to make sure that if I was paying for capped service, I was the one using it all.
I keep seeing people say "I'll steal my neighbor's" etc, but I'm having trouble seeing where that's a response with a reasonably likely chance of success. Even the most braindead yahoo out there is going to notice when his cable internet bill suddenly jumps from $35 to $150 in the span of a month, and he will do something to address that.
@jallen: i wouldn't call them brain dead yahoo but you gotta trust me on this they knowledge of any computer related material is next to none existent.they got wireless internet not because they wanted it but because they spoil brat of a son wanted it so a jump in the bill will only result in a slap of the hand for the brat.
@Curse_Lily: Maybe so, but my point is, that's not a situation that would go forever without a resolution. They'd either cancel the service or do what I described above.
There's only so long you can reasonably expect folks who are used to paying $X for their usage to accept a sudden jump in bandwidth costs.
Additionally, TWC was supposed to be rolling it out over a 60-day period or somesuch with customer notification. They wouldn't be in the dark that something was coming. They'd know a) that a new fee structure was in place, and b) I imagine that TWC would be sending out warnings about network security as part of a "we're not responsible for your laxity" disclaimer to shield themselves from lawsuits/etc from people who saw their costs jump because of leeches.
@DFXGaming: how bout praise the human race for finally not being sheep and actually trying to do something about something...besides, darwin is dead and jesus was a jewish carpenter...
@Archaneus: So you say. He could be just as imaginary as that supposed "George Washington" character. Stupid books, always trying to fool us into believing in fictitious people.
Well if you are just playing games you won't see much of an effect. Games send and receive relatively small amounts of data. But when you are downloading World of Warcraft, streaming netflix videos, and buying DLC for Xbox it can really run up the bill.
Oh, and I would suggest ALL TWC users to call their ISP and complain.
Sure you can whine on the internet, but they can ignore you. But when their on customer service gets a ton of calls with angry customers, surely theyll pay attention.

*raises hand*
I remember it working on that stereotypically violent game that some indie dev made to get money from Jack Thompson.

But it still doesn't change the fact that if AT&T Uverse or Verizon FIOS were available, I'd drop TW like a bad habit.

I certainly hope this kicks ISPs into shape and get this country's internet competitive with the rest of the world.
