IW needs to fix their party system. It's fucked up somethin fierce. In a 5 hour game night, we'll spend 3 just trying to find a fucking game that has us all in it. Too many times lobby gets closed or we DC or the game just splits us up like a retard. This is seriously getting on my nerves. -____-
They sold more but won't show numbers? What, did MW2 sell 25 million units in its first week or something? I mean, if the PC version has sold more than the COD4s PC version but is still only 3% of the total....
Or they're saying the first week of MW2 was better than COD4 on PC which is a way of reading it. Either way it's either complete bullshit or complete bullshit and damage control.
@steev-sama: Not really, it seems intentionally ambiguous. Either it's the first week of MW2 on PC did better than the first week of COD4 on PC or MW2PC has completely eclipsed all of COD4PCs sales in its first week.
They've been lying through their teeth ever since this shit kicked up. Why should I believe them now? Until they can back up their claims with actual numbers, I won't believe any of their spins.
This is more PR talk. COD4's first week for the pc wasn't that great. It's lifetime sale was far past 2mil though. There is probably under 100k copies of MW2 sold for pc. The ones who are boycotting this game will still do so. The ones who will buy this game will have already done so.
I'd also like to point out a couple of things regarding the infamous Steam Boycott group:
1. That at the time the screenshot was taken the group was set to be open to anyone; allowing those who wished to mess with the boycott group to join with inpunity.
2. That at the time the screenshot was taken the admin of the group was not aware of what was going on until myself and others brought it to their attention.
3. That said boycott group has since then kicked every single person who was playing and set the group to invite only. And they have also made it clear that anyone caught going forward WILL be kicked.
So, the cheap shots going forward really need to stop. To keep harping on it and using them as a scapegoat is not only unreasonable but unfair especially considering the steps that were taken since it happened.
Count me among those who bought the game. I'm enjoying it thoroughly, although I really haven't had much time to delve into the single-player campaign.
I still haven't bought the damn game, Uncharted 2 cleaned my wallet. Also, Left 4 Dead 2 C has local splitscreen, this game doesn't. I dunno which one to get next.
""In the beginning we talked about having things in Modern Warfare 2 like outbreaks, viruses, chemical warfare, and even outlandish things such as aliens and the living dead" says Jesse Stern, one of Modern Warfare 2's writers
I say, fuck that, save it and hopefully use it for a another game, perhaps an original IP akin to L4D but with the tight story structure and pacing of MW2. All of that shit together sounds awesome but it just doesn't fit in the COD universe. An Infinity Ward Zombie game? I'd buy that.
"In the beginning we talked about having things in Modern Warfare 2 like outbreaks, viruses, chemical warfare, and even outlandish things such as aliens and the living dead."
We're talking the main campaign here!?!? What were they thinking?!
IW feels to me like a company that is too far entrenched in this real world shit that they wouldnt go in the aliens or zombies direction. And thats to their detriment because the modes are popular because they are fun and fun is what games should be about. There are different types of fun I understand. But to me IW has worked so closely with the Navy and various real world military advisors that if they did include something like that in their game they would be scared to lose cred with those people in the future and be seen as another "dumb game". Hopefully Activision's marketing minions win out and convince them otherwise. And thats how bad things have gotten folks. Im hoping for Activision marketing heads to be the voices of reason.
@Modus_Operandi: Why would they make them change? The real world shit is selling more than the fake shit in world at war did. It's even sold more than halo has, showing that people seem to like the real world more than the fake world. At least that's what I gather from the sales figures. Maybe I'm just stupid. I dont' know.
@DeadlyWhispers: This logic doesnt really work. Yea alot of people purchased Halo and a staggering number purchased MW2. But alot of people purchased GH and Mario and Wii Resort.
People like games that are fun and fun is an objective thing. To me having zombies or something in MW2 would be fun because it has proven fun before and it wouldnt take anything away from the regular story. MW2 is not realistic. Its more realistic in comparison to whatever else you put it next to. Compared to say Halo it is but compared to say Operation Flashpoint or even real war army sims it isnt. Theyre all just games.
@WhiteMåge: Are you implying that zombies and aliens are original? Humf and Humf again I say. I would much rather have a game attempt political intrigue than the same tired bullshit videogames have been saturated with since the beginning of the medium

Wait longer, IW, before claiming victory. Maybe 10% of all-time CoD4 PC gamers bought it first week.
I'm not a frog and you're not a bunny, so let's not jump ahead. Let's wait for a couple of months to really start comparing numbers

On a serious note, they should have had some zombies as a crazy and random coop mode. =(
