The MotionPlus boggles my mind. I was under the assumption before I purchased my Wii that it was capable of 1:1 motion sensing... and once I discovered that my movements were simply triggering on-screen animations, I thought that it was a result of laziness on the part of developers.
Now Nintendo expects Wii owners to get excited over a peripheral who, if they were anything like me, expected this functionality in the first place. Thoughts?
@AndrewMP: I don't think the bit about triggering canned animations is true across the board, but I would agree that a peripheral that implements what should have already existed is silly. Nintendo argues that the technology in MotionPlus would have been affordable at the time, not that Nintendo has any problem with making money, but it still seems hokey.
Too expensive?!? They were charging $250 for a very, very last-gen console. All they had was the controller. They didn't even enable CD or DVD playback. Never, in history, has a console been MORE overpriced. Trust me, Nintendo could have afforded 1:1 at launch. Along with an optical out for true Dolby Digital Surround Sound. They could have even upped the graphics by 20% to make them tolerable and all that could have been done with an MSRP of $199.
I own the 360 version and it's either my favorite or second favorite game of 2008 (depending on my mood). That just makes me want a PROPER Dead Space for the Wii all the more. The awesome interface and control scheme could be replicated on the Wii. Not the graphics or sound, but they COULD capture a lot of what made the game great. Instead it's this on-rail BS because Wii is where great franchises go to die.

From the beginning, it was known to be an on-rail shooter. MotionPlus is completely pointless for that.
