And somehow when Carmack makes a purely technical comment about the PS3 while promising that they will get the same experience if not better than the other platforms fanboys say he's lazy. But I guess that's the keyword. Fanboys.
@Shinryoma:
One comment I read here awhile back said that John Carmack was "irrelevant". I could only frown and shake my head after reading something so ludicrous and uninformed.
Best of luck to Carmack then, I suppose. It's nice to see that Carmack still has time to dedicate to other things apart from games. The man must live on rocket fuel.
There are two other teams taking a shot at this prize but Carmack's team have set a pretty high bar. The other teams would have to land more precisely than Carmack's and they were pretty close to spot-on.
Their design is very scalable and the control systems will drive bigger spacecraft no problem. If they bolt 4 of these together they'll have something with a lot of potential uses even though it'll only be suborbital-capable.
You need much, much more thrust to get to orbit and while I imagine they're working towards that it's still a ways off.
@UsernameOfTheDead: Not only that, but the majority of the game grated my nerves pretty quickly.
I'm a 22 year video game veteran, and I'm no slouch when it comes to beating games on tough difficulties. But the first camp I attempted to take down just bent me over a barrel time after time after time. I died several times in a row after trying several strategies (on Normal difficulty, no less), so I finally put the game back on my shelf. Haven't touched it since.
@Dr Durdon: You mean the town with the cease fire? Yeah... you can't beat that, since you're not suppose to shoot in town. Every other camp was pretty easy though.
@ps360blows: No no no, it was some other camp, and now I can't even remember the objective. Lots of tin roofs, if that narrows it down (laff). I may give it a shot on Easy, I must be getting soft in my old age.
@peterpanpiper2: I think you mean "I'm making a game right now and its going to have a lot of 14s."
"A" and "lot" are two separate words, and you never, ever, ever use an apostrophe to denote multiples. That is to say, 12s, 13s, 14s; not 12's, 13's, 14's.
@Oktober: "Can" and "not" are two separate words that can be used together now. It's only a matter of time before "alot" becomes an official word as it is misused so often. Things can and do change, my friend.

It doesn't eliminate the tedious moments, but it helps control them.
