In other words, it sounds like Radar Group aims to put out games destined for the film treatment and vice-versa.

The company today confirmed that they are working with Human Heads Studio on Prey 2. They also announced that Recoil Games is working on a shooter called Earth No More and third title being worked on by a yet-to-be-announced studio.

Hit the jump for the description of all three and some more art.

Prey 2
The follow up to "Action Game of the Year" (PC Gamer), reprise your role as Tommy, the native warrior who saved Earth from alien invasion in Prey. This time, abandoned and framed for the disappearance of his family and girlfriend, Tommy escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him. Building on the mind-bending portal and gravity-defying gameplay of the original with several innovative new twists, Prey 2 promises to once again take players into a compelling science-fiction world with breathtaking visuals and adrenaline-pumping action gameplay. Prey 2 is currently being developed in cooperation with Human Head studios and slated for Xbox 360 and PC platforms.

Earth No More
Earth%20No%20More%201.jpg
Earth%20No%20More%202.jpg
Earth No More does away with the "lone-hero" shooter archetype, instead focusing on the dynamic between an ensemble cast that must learn to work together to survive the threat of an environmental extinction event. As Will Foster, a DHS chemical weapons specialist, you are among the first to respond to a gas attack on Washington, D.C. However, it soon becomes clear that the gas attack is a cover-up for something much more sinister. Earth No More is currently being developed in close collaboration with Recoil Games and is slated for release on next-gen consoles and PC.

Incarnate
Incarnate poses the question: Can evil ever die? The re-incarnated souls of history's most evil people are converging on present-day Chicago. As Thomas Ludlow, you are recruited by a secret organization to hunt down and capture these 'Incarnates'. But the further you dig into the reasons for their arrival, the more you learn of the true nature of your efforts and your own connection to the events unfolding before you. Stalk your prey in the wide open city, search for them in the dark places, and maybe you will survive long enough to solve the mystery of your own past. Can you break the chains of destiny, or will you let them bind you to your doom? Incarnate is currently being developed in collaboration with a yet-to-be-announced studio.

<![CDATA[Human Head Fire Update]]> hhnews.JPG

The fire that ravaged the Human Head Studios' office resulted in no injuries and won't, it appears, delay the production of their current title.

Hello, everyone.

As many of you know, the office building in which Human Head Studios is located suffered a significant fire early on Friday, April 20th.

We are relieved to report that no one was injured in the fire, and though we suffered some equipment and furniture loss due to smoke and water, we suffered no significant data loss, as the brunt of the fire was located in another part of the building.

We're excited to let our concerned friends know that this speed bump won't keep us from continuing our development of great new award-winning product. We will be relocating to a new office space for the short term, and we expect to be back in full development very soon.

We are working to have email communication back up later this week. Postal communication may still be sent to our old address and will be forwarded to us. You can still reach us by phone as well.

We're very proud of the great team at Human Head, which has come together to clean up, clear out, and start rebuilding since word spread Friday morning,.

We would like to thank everybody for their understanding, encouragement, and patience as we recover.

Thank you,

Human Head Studios

While this sounds like it might not be a big deal, dealing with this sort of thing is going to be a big stresser for the entire team.

<![CDATA[Human Head Studios Building Catches Fire]]>

The building that houses game developer Human Head Studios, the creators of Prey, was the victim of a huge fire yesterday morning in it's hometown of Madison, Wisconsin. While there are no reported injuries, the report from Channel3000.com reports that the building, which houses several other businesses in addition to Human Head, suffered major damage. The majority of the fire seemed to be mostly contained in the back half of the building but it is unknown whether Human Head itself was affected. Hopefully they managed to escape unscathed, but the damage sounds pretty extensive. Until more is known, all we can do is cross our fingers and hope for the best. Good luck, Human Head, our thoughts are with you.

<![CDATA[Human Head Signs with Ecko]]>

Human Head, creators of what I believe was one of the most over-hyped games of 2006, just penned a deal with Marc Ecko's new games division, GameDaily reports.

There's really not any details in the announcement other than the typical our game is going "push the boundaries of entertainment" nonsense. Ecko gushed that he is a huge fan of Prey and is "pscyhed" that he gets a chance to work with the studio that made the game.

"Human Head is a premiere developer that is up to the challenge of crafting a title that is conceptually different than any game ever made," said Mike Lynch, President of Marc Ecko Entertainment. "Our entire team is focused on working side by side with Human Head's core group to develop an action title that is truly ambitious in scope. Our job is to change perceptions of what a game can be." ... "When we first met with Marc's team, we were excited by the creative vision that they brought to the table and the fact that they weren't afraid to take risks," added Paul MacArthur, President of Human Head Studios. "We're ready to give players a brand new ride."

Yes, so a next-gen title from Human Head backed by Ecko.

If I was one of the Human Head guys, I'd totally have to ask, everytime we were having a meeting with Marc Ecko, like right in the middle of him saying something: "Is there an echo in here?" and then laugh for two minutes. And I'd do it at every meeting... Yah, one of many reasons I'm not a developer.

<![CDATA[Get Narbacular Drop In Your Prey!]]>

If you're excited for Valve's Portal and wish there was more Narbacular Drop in your Prey now, some intrepid 3D Realms forum modders have modded make-your-own-portals into the popular Human Head Studios game... a game which, as you might remember, accurately models what it might be like to be shrunk down to microscopic size and walk around inside of a woman's cervix.

<![CDATA[Jeremy Soule's Prey Soundtrack Trumps Second Coming]]>

I have a guilty admission: I actually kind of dug the Prey demo. What can I say? I'm a sucker for drunken Injun chiefs blithering into their cups about the prophecy of the mountains, not to mention cute Native-American bartenders with amazing polygonal asses and Dyson spheres fueled off the juice of human bean gelatinators. And even their gimmicky Portal Technology? Hell, I thought that was pretty cool too.

Still, I didn't much notice Jeremy Soule's soundtrack, which is interesting, because Soundtrack.net is directly comparing it to the music of the spheres.

Prey is destined to effect industry-wide change: from defining a new standard by which music commissions for flagship interactive titles can be judged, to sounding a welcome death knell for the use of through-composed material. It is a key milestone and one that is the culmination of a decade's work spent to bring the true sound of Hollywood into the home. The result: a soundtrack which breathes color into a monochrome landscape. Indeed, nothing quite like this has come before in the games industry and, when Prey ships, the dust is going to take a long time to settle. So, reload and pack some stims because if you want an answer to where video game music goes from here... it's arrived.

Heavy. Don't expect to understand what they are on about unless you went to Juliard. To be fair, Joel Johnson and I did have an IM discussion about the soundtrack, but it mostly centered about how 'Barracuda' was playing in the bar at the beginning of the game and how awesome it was that Art Bell was finally branching out into video games.

<![CDATA[Prey Demo Released For PCs]]>

Thanks to everyone who wrote in yesterday, pointing out that Prey's new protagonist, Tommy the Mechanic, is indeed a Native American named "Tommy Hawk"... the sort of pun that can only be responded to with blank stares and the audible shlork of dry blinking.

Anyway, the Prey demo featuring Mr. Tommy Hawk is now available. You can grab it at Gamers Hell, the lesser of the download portal evils. An XBox Live Marketplace demo should be available in a few days, for those who don't have a PC box up to snuff to run the Doom 3 engine.

<![CDATA[Prey Goes Gold]]>

Add another bullet point in the list of things that have happened while Duke Nukem Forever has been in production: a completely different 3D Realms vaporware product has gone gold, under the watchful eye of Human Head Studios.

We refer, of course, to Prey. I haven't kept tabs on this very well, so I was surprised to find that they abandoned their Native American protagonist idea ('Talon Brave') and replaced him with a garage mechanic named Tommy. Huh. Interesting... although I suppose we can all thank 3D Realms for not giving a Native American the Lo Wang treatment.

A demo of Prey is scheduled for tomorrow, according to Wikipedia.
