how will those thousands of hours of studying and watching movies pay off in nobody buys it? bacause we ALL know that the conduit will be stealing the FPS market for the next 100 years or so, considering how awesome it looks.
@laser beams: yes, it merely has to do with how much money was put into the production. but since that has become a style or a genre if you will, what do we call grindhouse? i call it a chimeran highbreed.
Anything can make an A-list game as long as the story is good and the gameplay is fun. The idea that a game is originally based on means nothing in the face of the final product.
Hmmm... if this ends up a game where I'm supposed to hold the silly zapper thingy, count me out. Why does it seem that so few people can develop in earnest with the Wii controls?
You do know that they made an alternative to that, it's called the Perfect Shot. I have two, and its so much better than Nintendo's crappy zapper. Go look it up...
@SanjiX: @Darkslash: Yes and yes. Fair enough answers that there are solutions out there. I guess that in particular, arcade shooters will always belong as arcade shooters to me. I do not get the same feeling standing in my living room pointing at a 40" TV that I did in the arcade, standing several feet (as determined by the metal bar construction of the machine's extended 'velvet rope') in front of the massive screen, in a dimly lit room with arcade fighter noises, pinball, and 'luck' machines clammoring for my attention in the background.

I'm all for more B-movie influence in games.

Me too. I'm still waiting for a game based on 'American Ninja 2'.
