@Chesu: You picked Heroes over House? Now I feel bad, as this is clearly sign of clinical depression and self-hate, but I have no way to help you from here.
I saw this last night, and I could barely stop cringing. The same thing happens pretty much every time video games make an appearance on television, since they're almost always accompanied by 8-bit noises that have been dated for about 20 years, or a character mindlessly jabbing at every button on a controller as quickly as they possibly can. The way video games are portrayed on television is just embarrassing.
The game was so hilariously impractical. Somehow it could create 1:1 movement with all your limbs despite having no input devices to wear or a visible camera. It also made you walk forward, but how you would actually do this I have no idea, unless it was sort of on rails?
Also in general the game looked pretty bad, and there was no way that game designer would have that much money to throw at doctors.
I was surprised he wasn't an obnoxious LEETZOR type character though, I was relieved.
I haven't seen this episode yet, so for now I'll have to trust you all's (grammar fail?) assessments of how obnoxious the video game sections were...but I'd wager they don't come close to the NCIS season 1 episode "The Immortals."
Holy hell, that was maybe the most embarrassing video game related television material I've ever had to sit through. The best part is when Abby explains that she is fighting her way through some castle in order to get to the Keep. Once she reaches the Keep, she will be able to access a log that contains all the vital login information for every player in the game, which of course is something they need to solve the case. You know, instead of just asking the devs to audit the guy's account or something....
Love the show, but they need to not use MMOs as a plot device ever again.
Hmm, a virtual 13 and Cameron... well that has it's appealing aspects..
I love House, but that's possibly because I too am a sarcastic bastard who needs a cane to walk with and takes painkillers all the time.
In a couple of shows wasn't he playing one of the Metroid games on a GBA SP?

Fusion and Zero Mission are great hand held games, but if you only get a chance to try one pick up the Prime Trilogy set on the wii.
You could pick up any of the main games and have a great time but trilogy is just amazing.
This episode was a pretty big disappointment after the excellent season premier (which broke from the "discovered, cured and humorously quipped in 44 minutes" formula). The video game parts were too embarrassing to watch.
Oh, if any of the io9 staff are reading this, where are the House recaps? You've already established it as sci-fi.
@octaslash: I liked the episode a lot except for the video game parts which were absolutely ridiculous and stupid, enough to have me rant about them in TAY yesterday. The patient was great, and it was a novel way to reintroduce House back into the show. Plus, all of the House and Wilson moments were lots of fun.
I notice most House fans seems to hate episodes which veer from the formula, but I happen to like them, and the first three episodes of the season are a necessary departure to address House's rehab and the aftermath.
After the treatment for Las Plagas went horribly wrong, ruling it out, another symptom was conveniently revealed that led the team to Valkyr abuse, which was immediately ruled out by a flash of genius; it was actually lupus.
Shouldn't we all aspire to be a cynical, vicodin-poppin', narcissicistic doctor who is just a little mad at the world because we had a little muscle death in our right quad?
@Mikey: Haven't you heard? He's off Vicodin now. Has been ever since he banged the German ladychickwoman who used to run a lot and sucked face with Matt Damon.
I thought it was a decent episode, but the game parts were annoying.
I was kinda hoping they'd be a little more realistic about it, but it just ended up being the ridiculous stuff you usually see when movies/TV shows try to deal with games...

I do wonder how much of that is the writers influence and how much is Hugh Laurie's, they have included a lot of the musical stuff that he does.

- Vicodin mini-game (waggle/touch) every 10 minutes,
- whiteboard writing with the stylus,
- quick-time event on something Wilson says, to have the "revelation".
What we can dream of:
- Cuddy/Cameron/Thirteen touch-based game. Especially Cuddy.
