Really? Hot Shots Golf 5? Look, small mandatory installs, those are fine. We've had plenty of those before. And with a game like Devil May Cry 4, you can understand a developer wanting to get the most out of the hardware (even if they should have given us the option of an install). The trade-off - ie fast loading times - for a big game like that, people are OK with. But Hot Shots Golf 5? If the final retail build ships like this, a 20-odd-minute wait and 5GB of HDD space for a cartoon golf game is taking the piss. Dear PS3 developers: this is a worrying trend. Please stop.

<![CDATA[The Greatest Taxi In Japan]]> Over in Ishikawa Prefecture, a taxi company is offering a maid taxi service, appropriately called "Maid Taxi" (so clever). 5,700 yen (US $50) an hour gets you a chauffeur, a maid and a PS3 equipped cab that comes with Virtual Fighter 5, Ridge Racer 7 and Hot Shots Golf 5. Passengers can also watch DVDs and listen to MDs. Mini Discs? That's so 1998! The catch? The service is for handicapped customers only, which is very cool. Beats taking the bus or the train!

<![CDATA[Hot Shots Golf 5 Upskirt Money Shots]]> Those Hot Shots Golf 5 upskirts we posted? Those were NOTHING — shamefully close but no cigar. Now that the game's been out for a bit, and folks with discerning tastes have have more time to perfect things. You want pantsu? They've go clear, unobstructed pantsu. The above clip has the art of the Hot Shots upskirt down. What we learned? There are matching multi-colored underoos like white, blue, green, pink and black. Because in golf, coordination is everything! This clip clocks in at 8 minutes — too long for some and not long enough for others.]]> http://kotaku.com/index.php?op=postcommentfeed&postId=288051&view=rss&microfeed=true <![CDATA[Hot Shots Golf 5 Event Not So Hot]]> This Sunday saw a Hot Shots Golf 5 rally event in front of the Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara — a location prime for foot traffic. The series has traditionally been extremely popular in Japan, and the players in that day's rally would get Hot Shots goods. According to Akiba Blog, no one apparently came as staffers in white shirts stood out front waiting. All this is trivial! The Hot Shots Golf 5 PS3 bundle has moved some more machines for Sony. That's what really matters and not some game rally. Right? Right?!

<![CDATA[Hot Shots Golf 5's Embarrassing Upskirt Clips]]> Hot Shots Golf 5 is out in Japan. The game's in-game wind and camera angles mean one thing: upskirts! While the videos aren't necessarily NSFW (don't see much), they are VERY VERY CREEPY. And we thought Dead or Alive was the only place for this sort of embarrassment.

There's another clip after the jump, depending on your tolerance for this kind of stuff. Me? By now, numb.

<![CDATA[Hot Shots Golf 5 Online Bait and Switcheroo]]> It's not uncommon for companies to go back in and add features to a game. Take Motorstorm, for example. When it went on sale in Japan, it didn't have online. Customers who bought it didn't think they could play it online. So when Sony went back in and added online to the experience, it was a pleasant surprise! What Sony's done with Hot Shots Golf 5 isn't so pleasant.

Giving the title a 9/9/9/9 score, Japanese game mag Famitsu really liked Hot Shots Golf 5. They loved the new real shot feature as well as the new multiplayer mode that literally translates as "Exhibition Match Real-Type." The game's website also championed this new online feature, which allows for 2~8 player play. However, right after the game went on sale, the website was changed. This online feature won't be available until late August.

In the picture above, left is "before," and right is "after" purchase. Like I said, stuff like this isn't uncommon, and not a huge deal, really. Sony will be delivering online very, very soon. Though, promising online and then not delivering it until after the fact probably did disappoint some.

Elsewhere, there are rumblings that Hot Shots Golf 5 is freezing up, making me wonder if the game doesn't need a little longer in the oven...

Thanks muu for the tip!

<![CDATA[Golf Time with PS3 is Japanese Bath Time]]> If nothing says PS3 like Hot Shots Golf 5, then nothing says bathing like sitting in warm water with old Japanese men. Or something. Hit the jump for another one of these oh-so exciting ads after the jump.

<![CDATA[Everybody's Golf 5 TV Spot]]>

Minna no Golf 5—aka Everybody's Golf 5 or Hot Shots Golf 5 to us English speakers—is sure to move some PLAYSTATION 3 hardware. Hell, it has its own hardware bundle so it's a safe bet. But that perception that the Japanese fear the PS3 because of its size? Well, this TV spot ain't gonna help. The follow up is just as fantastically bizarre.
