    NHL 2K hasnt really being doing much since about 2k5 or so in my opinion....NHL series is better because they actually update stuff

    its like the exact opposite of the NFL 2k/Madden series...EA works hard, 2K does roster updates

    it also sucks because Im a Sharks fan and loved hearing Drew and Randy commentate

    The Whalers sweaters are all well and good, but did they include the Winnipeg Jets as an option for Phoenix and the Nordiques for Colorado?

    I know that most people think of the "core" as being 360/PS3 but is there any chance that when the games are so different those of us who only have a Wi could get a proper review even if it is a mini version?
    I know that it will be a pain in the arse but I really do think it would be worth it. There are so many differences between the versions in games like this that the review is essentially worthless.

    @Weirdwolf: I say this in the interest of full disclosure: I do not own a Wii. At this point, for what I do on the site, if I were to get one it would be my expense to bear, and I don't contribute enough in the coverage of that platform to justify it. It's nothing against the Wii or the Wii version of anything, just to let you know I have no agenda — I also have no console in this case.

    Thanks for the reply. I can fully understand why you wouldn't want the expense,(perhaps Nintendo could get one to you HINT HINT REGGIE!) and I know that Kotaku isn't really a "review site".
    It's just that for sports games and multiplats the Wii seems to be the poor relation gaining a few lines at most even though it is the console with the largest user base.

    As with game 7 of the cup finals, the important Pens games are always on a night my band has a concert (we, of course, have a concert tomorrow ;-)) It was incredibly difficult to play a show knowing that the last hockey game for 3 months was being played, with my Penguins vying for the Cup...the sad thing is, I found out they won the Cup in the car heading south on I-95...I sure hope EA is right and the Pens repeat so I can actually WATCH Game 7 ;-). Go Pens

    Its finally hockey season again. Since the last horn in game 7, I have been waiting for today (hey, Im Canadian). Tomorrow will be great as I have it off and hockey starts at Noon and then Saturday, every team plays. I can watch hockey from noon till 1am on saturday.

    As for champs this year, I hope its the Pens again but I am thinking the hawks may just pull it out.

    @revolverx: Ok First of all the red wings dominate the West central, Secondly the black hawks are a very good team but I don't think they have enough skill to win the west. Thirdly Sidney Crosby is a douche bag i hope he gets a season ending surgery.

    @Fredbearr: I hear NHL 10 has Crosby-mode. It's an entire season dedicated to being taken out to dinner by Gary Bettman. How the trip back to his place gets handled is all up to you.

    I love hockey, what I love even more is that I can lie in bed and listen to the Habs games over the internet radio thousands of miles away while I can't hear my football team when they play 50 fucking miles away!
    Although when I'm hungry the "restaurant is only 5 minutes" from the stadium ads are bloody annoying.

    @idrumgood: The games are even better than the actual sport.

    One of the few sports that really transfers over to the virtual world almost perfectly.

    I actually knew nothing about hockey until a friend got '94 when we were in high school... got addicted to that, and then started watching the real life stuff afterwords. Kinda funny how that worked out in a complete reversal of the norm.

    @superbagman: I'm from Michigan. We've got the Wings and (at least at the moment) the Tigers...but we've also got the Lions.

    But on the plus side, there are four teams in the NFL that are worse than the Lions right now. Super Bowl, here we come!

    @mistajeff44: Agreed. I just don't want to get my hopes up too much - the team is still young and inexperienced, and it showed last week. They've also got a lot of work to do on defense.

    Honestly, I think that we got kind of lucky with the Notre Dame and Indiana games, but after the debacle of last year, I'll take any wins they can get.
