Not the kind of bad news that'd compel you to clamber up on a rooftop, mind, but it's pretty damn close. The upcoming Highlander game won't feature Kurgan. Not at all. VG247 spoke with the game's executive producer, Luke Timms, who broke the news:
Kurgan, no, but there is one familiar character Highlander fans will be happy to see. Working closely with the original writer - David Abramowitz - ensures that we are in tune with what Highlander fans want and expect.
What, just one? So there's no Kurgan. The main character (ie you) isn't Connor MacLeod of the clan MacLeod. At this rate there probably won't be "Who Wants To Live Forever?" in it either. Widescreen Games, that "familiar" character had best be Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, or you may as well just pack up and go home.
No Kurgan in Highlander, confirms Widescreen [VG247]

<![CDATA[ Highlander - There Can Be Only Several ]]> How many freaking MacLeods are their? First we had Connor MacLeod, who confused us through several movies. Then Duncan MacLeod, Connor's younger clansman shows up for the TV series and a movie stint. Now the Eidos game for the Xbox 360, PS2, and Games for Windows reportedly features Owen MacLeod. Whatever continuity you follow, this is beginning to get silly. This trailer for the upcoming title was included on the DVD for SciFi's Highlander: The Source TV movie. Seeing as SCi has been tooling around with the franchise for years, let's hope that something fruitful is finally coming of their ownership - and that the company lasts long enough to release it. Resident Evil: Extinction is the third in the series of passably execrable movies penned by Paul W.S. Anderson, the guy who actually gets to have sex with Milla Jovovich. Will Milla Jovovich's tits make a fashionable reappearance in the third film? All signs point to "Who knows?" but Sienna Guillory will be reprising her role as Jill Valentine.

Anderson won't actually be directing this time around, though. Highlander director Russell Mulcahy will be directing the third film. Don't bother getting excited — while it is true that Mulcahy directed the pretty great Highlander Part 1, he wasted all future geek cred by directing the stinky, horrible Highlander Part II. Otherwise known as "They were aliens all along..."

I hate to admit it, but I kind of like Anderson's throwaway sci-fi/horror films. AVP was terrible, but Soldier and Event Horizon are guilty pleasures, and the first Resident Evil film was a lot better than it had any right to be. Between Mulcahy and Anderson, maybe this third one will be watchable.
