Hmm, they're probably a little too late on labeling it as the first real virtual sport. Video games have been competitive for decades, whether they be fighting games, shooters, RTS games, etc.
Calling Tetris the "first virtual sport" is a stretch. It's been done, and is still happening right now.
@BritBloke916: Some people think chess should be an Olympic sport. Perhaps it would be better to combine Tetris with some kind of physical activity, like chess boxing but with more Game Boys.
Because he lived in a communist country, his idea belonged to everyone collectively, however, those rules did not apply to most of the rest of the capitalist world, so there was a race to get the rights for the game with participants as big as Nintendo.
