Techland has decided to put its first-person dungeon crawler, Hellraid, on hold. The game was supposed to be released later this year, but the Dying Light developer wants to “send it back to the drawing board.”
Originally slated for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Techland's first-person co-op hackand-slash role-playing game Hellraid is riding an upgraded game engine to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One instead.
Hellraid, the game which attempts to mix the combat of Dead Island with the setting of Dark Messiah (or Heretic, or Hexen), has a prequel that you can play right now. The catch? It's an interactive movie. Don't worry though, it's lotsa fun.
Man... this trailer. Yes, Techland's 2013 first-person slasher Hellraid has a silly name. And yes, the Dead Island games have never been perfect. But this game looks like they took the best part of Dead Island (the combat) and applied it to a setting that screams "Dark Messiah". How can I say no to that?
This is Hellraid, a new "first-person co-op slasher" just announced by the folks at Techland, best known for polarizing games like Dead Island and Call of Juarez.
