Please tell me it has Crabbe and Goyle running around as little girls. That would almost make it worth it. And certainly worth grabbing when it's cheaper.
I thought the OotP game for the Wii was pretty OK; I had fun with it anyway, and it seems like it was better than this one...which isn't how it should be.
@Kris: I know the older games had more stuff from the books that wasn't in the movies, but I think this game was sticking closer to the movie than the book... I say that, but the fact that one of the ghosts is in it means that there is at least SOMETHING from the book that's not in the movie, though I can't actually remember what part NHN would have played in the book... It's been a while since I read HBP the last time.
@bobtheduck:
He doesn't really do anything in the book. I think he's at Slughorn's party, but not much else.
He's in this one to replace the "follow the footprint" system that was in Order of the Phoenix.
"There's a very bizarre section of the game where Harry drinks a Liquid Luck potion and then the game goes into Naked Gun Intro mode so you can watch Harry stroll around Hogwarts to bad jazz club music."
Am I the only one who didn't think Half Blood Prince was the best book? It might have something to do with everyone on THE FUCKING PLANET GIVING AWAY THE ENDING BEFORE I WAS DONE WITH IT.
@Thorax: I don't know, I know at least one person who vehemently hates it to the point where he doesn't even consider it part of the canon any more, and has boycotted the film.
@Thorax: Half Blood was my least favorite book, to be honest. A little dull and it kind of felt like stalling/throwing in a bunch of things that had to be done before the conclusion, but a bit joyless compared to some of the other books. That being said, the series on a whole was great, so one dud of a book is completely forgivable.
@Thorax: I liked the third and fourth books the best. The fifth book I absolutely despised and I think the fan fiction-ish epilogue in book seven was pathetic.
What's interesting to me is to see which movies I like, since it hasn't corresponded one-to-one with my book preferences. So far, I like this sixth movie the best with the fourth movie being a close runner-up. The second film is probably my least-favorite film.
Can they take another and better shot at making a Quidditch game? I already get enough magic-y video game goodness elsewhere, but can't get mah Quidditch anywhere else.
Also, why not just go ahead and make a whole fictional sports division of EA Sports and give us Pyramid Ball from BSG as well. (currently blanking on other fictional sports)
@Jeff Paine: Unless Mr. Glasser edited the post, he seems to have intended to use penultimate. Half Blood Prince is the second to last book, making his use of it still valid.
Step one! Make a Harry Potter game where you don't play any of the established characters but make your own totally fan-fictiony mary-suey self inserts!
Step two! Make it open world and base it on Rockstar's Bully! That was an awesome school game! And you can probably like, make out with Padma Patil or Viktor Krum or whatever you fancy!
Step three!
Step four! Give me your profit! Seriously, I need health insurance money!
@Psudonym: I think at some point EA had a dorky looking Harry Potter MMO in the works. I'm surprised that companies haven't done more to capitalize on the whole Hogwarts concept, and instead we're stuck with movie games of the shittiest caliber. There is nobody else to blame but the game developers themselves, who seek only to make a quick buck off of a successful franchise.
Y'know whats going to be REALLY awesome? The Harry Potter games, that DON'T have a movie tie in. Just imagine... After all the movies are done... They do something that they take their time on.. Wouldn't that be wonderful. A dork can dream right?
@ZackRI: you know, i wish all games based on a movie didn't have to tie into the movie to begin with. i wish those games were great but its just because the developers didn't have enough time. 1 year does make a big difference.
@Boom-Chicka-Ah-Here to Create a Star Commenter...: I don't understand why they don't just make the games completely separate entities from the books and movies. A series of 7 self-contained games that portray the Harry Potter universe as well as any game can tell a story, along with competent magic-casting gameplay, would have been a blast. Too bad the guys at EA don't give a shit, they just want people to spend money on this game when they think of the movie.
@gold163 (° д° ): who says its EA is the movie developers. they decide the time limit on when the game is due and its usually 3 years which is not enough these days.
@Boom-Chicka-Ah-Here to Create a Star Commenter...:
EA had a whole freakin' extra year to tweak it, after the movie's huge delay. Understandably you can only employ X amount of people for a project for so long, but I'd like to think they wouldn't just sit on the thing for 8 months doing nothing.
That part with the liquid luck really got me thinking of how it would work in the game. I thought, "Man, that could make for an awesome section of the game! Something new, something interesting, something..."
And then I sobbed because I knew it would be too much to ask from a merciful lord.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has great graphics if this was 20 years ago. Had a man been frozen alive and just been brought back to life and then been shown this as the first thing (which is how EA does alot when quality-checking their graphics on license-games) then he would've been seriously wowed, asked to meet our robot overlords and asked us if we had heard 'Another Day In Paradise' by Phil Collins which is topping the Pop Radio Top 20.
@Booji-Boy: lol, no, the movies are basically fanservice to kids who have read the books. The books aren't even as close as the rushed wreck the movies are.

Sounds more like Spider-Man 3 to me.

Either way, I liked Goblet of Fire the best.

The first 3/4 of Half-Blood Prince is worthless. But it's worth going through it for the last 1/4 of the book to see the start of Harry's manning up.
"Man, fuck this school. I'm going to kick Voldemort's ass and shag my best friend's sister. AND NOBODY GON' DO SHIT ABOUT IT!"

The first book and Goblet of Fire will always be my two favorites in the series.
