I didn't know Gamecock got sold...It is an interesting business shift if ever they do buy the mag.

I mean how can you be not biased after being a developer? Can he honestly rate a game a "4" or something when it's even better than what they used to make?

I'm speaking out of my ass here by the way, =D

Excellent! If Mike Wilson was the guy behind the JOHN ROMERO'S ABOUT TO MAKE YOU HIS BITCH ads, I just can't wait to see what he'd do with an entire magazine!

I was just about to ask where this guy was when EGM died. I subscribed to Play and Edge right after EGM died. Gotta support the mags!

@octalass: That POS magazine. It is degrading that Gamepro lasted longer than EGM.

I am happy the Gamepro people still have a job though...but they suck at what they do.

@Skinney: Haha cruel but true! GamePro sucked then and judging from a lot of people's comments. they still do...

I never liked that mag and their "Pro-tips" and pseudo-trying to be cool nicknames.

The reason I liked Hardcore Gamer so much was that it really catered to RPG's in a time where FPS gets the majority of attention. They covered normal games too, as Dead Rising was their feature on, I think, their second issue?

As a magazine, I really liked it. I just don't think it had enough push in the beginning and that the overall style wasn't "edgy" enough for American consumers. The cartoon covers were somewhat offputting, even for me.

In other news, the estranged writing staff of EGM was found jumping for joy after finding out about winning some auction on an internet site. Sources tell us that the writing and editorial staff of the former Electronic Gaming Monthly were seen putting up banners at the old Sendai Publications building with "EGM+UGO=FU!"

UGO Officials declined to comment, while some were shown jumping off a building. Others weer seen jumping in a lake with a six pack and no ride home.

    More details to follow...

This is set up as such perfect satire, it's hard to believe it's true... I mean the title of the magazine is HARDCORE GAMER for crying out loud... Like Nintendo sold out Hardcore gamers, and companies are slowly following their lead...

This is upsetting. I actually really liked this magazine and I absolutely adore the publisher. DoubleJump books makes guides for most NISA and Atlus games that are published over here and they're always very thorough and sometimes end up rare. That said, their magazine was impossible to find in stores, and I don't think the initial marketing investment was strong enough to carry it through, especially with the way the market is right now. I really hope this doesn't mean DJBooks will go under though. I always look forward to purchasing their guides.

I have alot of respect for the former staff of DieHard GameFan.

That said, to the winner of the bids (if/when applicable): I feel bad for you. For especially when you make it to the junkets, would you take it personally if everyone refers to you as "That Guy", and writes "Tool" on your press pass in crayon?

That's EXACTLY how I would imagine this to pan out. Shame, really...

Anyway, GOOD LUCK TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER!!! :-D
