The majority of you people are gullible. I see that you are going to toys r us to get the game thinking you're getting it @ 39.99; you are wrong. Yes I understand the gift card deal however you'll have to purchase the game @ full price then will you receive it. However the only way you'd actually buy the game @ 39.99 is if you return the game the same day then re purchase it @ cust service. Now is that what you guys are going to stand in line for? No pun intended but this was common sense that I'm surprised the toys r us employee didn't say anything. Similar situation occurred ssbb melee. & to the person being afraid of being an adult & entering the toys r us by himself, I pity you.
@Theoutlet: Yes, they can expire in California if you're not the one putting the money on the gift card. Since it's TRU's money, they can defintely, legally, allow that card to expire.
You are confusing store issued cards with cards purchased by you or a non-TRU entity. If you bought a gift card for someone putting your cash on it, that card can't expire. However, a "maintenance" fee might be charged over time against the balance. Store issued cards have balances on them that were never your's to begin with so it's up to the store how they work.
Grown men playing D&D? Losers. But substitute "quarterback" for "wizard" and "yards passing" with "hit points" and suddenly it's OK? yes, that's right Fantasy football/baseball/etc. is, after all, D&D with sports. So what's wrong with going to TRU for a gift card and a figure? You know, TRU also sells 360 point cards and XBL subscriptions.
@Deezul_AwT: Fantasy sports consist of assembling a team of real-life athletes and watching how their separate, unrelated real-life performances affect your created team. D&D and other dice-based fantasy games are based on intricate imaginary scenarios played out via random dice-rolls. They're not really the same thing at all.
Too bad in the fine print it states that your gift card expires in less than 2 months. So good deal if you are going to go pick up something in 2 mo. but I think they are hoping you try to use this on MW2, because it expires before that comes out.
Whoops, my bad, it expires 4 days after MW is released. But still, 2 months? Really?

@brandonpheslar: I actually work at Toys R Us, and we have recently been doing these sales on any of the big releases. We do this, but the expiration date bothers everyone. What you do, is you buy a regular gift card with this one, and then you are all set, without an expiration date.
@DrowningInMercy: So you pick it up, flog the toy on ebay (you know halo nuts are nuts) and get something from TRU worth having. Then trade ODST in to GameStation the next day. (you have time to complete it anyhow)
Chances are you will break even and have a cool toy but who knows, maybe you will be in the profit and you got to complete the game.
Well i mean...
That's great and all but this is only due to two major things.
1. Without offering something special like that there is no reason for anyone to actually buy games from Toys R Us... I've never met anyone that has said "Hey. I need to head over to Toys R Us to pick up Fallout 3. " It just seems rather silly.
2. There's a good chance a very minimal number of people would actually buy that 'action figure' anyway. Unless you are one of the 7-10 year olds (I wish that were just a joke. I really do.) that frequent Halo 3 there isn't going to much appeal for action figures.
Besides. We have video games now. Who actually wants to use their imagination with dolls.
Real men play video games.
@Toastngravy: When I was in line to get Smackdown vs Raw 2009 last year, (it was the gears of war 2 launch people were lining up for) - people were drooling over the toys that came with it. Granted, 1 was a chain saw but a plastic one none the less.
@elevenoverzero: damn you beat me to it. i guess all i can do now is point out that the weapons and vehicles for the most part feel like something youd find in a toy store.
As long as the subject of Toys R Us is up, don't use their trade-in program. Even if they take really old games, the compensation they offer is just an insult. You're better off sticking with gamestop, even if you have a grudge against them.
@MifuneT: Yeah, I gotta say I've entered the phase of my life where I actually feel creepy going to Toys R Us by myself. I went there like a year or so ago and picked up Every Extend Extra for my PSP, and the entire time I was there I felt like I should be checking out the kids or something to justify a grown adult going into the place. Getting old stinks. :/

Not if you live in Cali. Gift cards don't expire there.

*shrugs*
I'd probably pick up the game, then pick up Mario and Luigi 3 with the gift card.

Unless you're including the action figure that is. If you are, then nevermind!

1.) People letting the cards expire before using them.
2.) People spending more money on other things once they've get them in the store.
