    are people kind of, chipping away at the inside flesh as opposed to cutting into the pumpkins to get these fantastic effects? i'm carving tonight, thinking of somthing simple, the half life one seems dooable yet still cool. #halloween

    @Blore07: They a scrapeing away the outside. How deep or shallow they scrape depends on how much light gets through. #halloween

    The Borderlands one just goes to show you how video games can bring out ones creativity. If the media would just focus on that more and not the fact the guy who just shot a friend just happened to own a xbox 360 people wouldn't hate games as much. VERY well done! #halloween

    the borderlands one is possibly the best one that have been showed here on kotaku. really awesome.

    It took me a total of 11 hours spread across 2 days to create that borderlands pumpkin. I used pencil to freehand draw the image on the pumpkin skin, which didn't work too well.     WOW, the Borderlands one is amazing.

    Anyone could easily do a Lambda pumpkin but no one would get the reference. Hell if a trick-or-treater can name the game i'll give them a king-sized Reese's Peanut Butter cup.

    What I think this is, as opposed to any kind of profit, is an attempt to strengthen the online community of these games so the people that play them now will have a constant influx of new players instead of a game perhaps fading away.

    @Pitchswitch: Most of these still have really strong communities. This is just Valve being Valve and ensuring their games keep selling.
