Seth Schiesel reports that Johnson recorded a score of 973,954 in a roughly seven-minute rendition of DragonForce's Through the Fire and Flames at a Best Buy in Midtown Manhattan.
That's weird, because at like 7:30AM I was watching the PIX morning news, and he broke the record live on the show in their studios. Best Buy wouldn't have even been open at that time. The guy from Guinness gave him the certificate and everything.
So those furious sounds of sweaty palms striking something vigourously and repeatedly were only him practicing his guitar? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.......
"Danny came within seconds of playing all 3,722 of the song's notes flawlessly, but his streak ended at 3,558 when the blue button on his guitar broke under his assault."
now that has got to suck, knowing you could have scored higher if your controler had held up.
Not knocking this guy, plays this game better than I ever could, but 80 controllers? Really? What is he doing to them and does every practice end with smashing your axe into the floor?
I'm nowhere near as good, but even sucking at this game I put quite a lot of use into my controllers and I have yet to have any break, let alone 80..
@oolz: Stupid Kotaku. This was a great reference. Plus more offensive stuff is ROUTINELY done on the site. Who the hell is responsible for all the liberal banning going around here?
@MDRL: Did you really just use "propaganda", "gibbering", and "manchildren" all together in one sentence? Because that doesn't make you look more intelligent than people who like the show.
@eddienoteddy: You know what's a lot more pathetic? Tools who flex their e-muscles to feel better about themselves. So what if he's not great at Guitar Hero? I'm not either, but that doesn't mean I (or he) couldn't kick your arse in a different game.
@ProbablyGoingToGetBanned: Hehe. It's a good thing I'm adult enough to not worry an iota about what random people on the internet say.
People that can play these games well inspire and awe me, and kudos to them. I'm not one of them, the world moves on. I actually just like listening to the music and being able to sit there and interact with it. Doesn't matter if it's medium, or hard, or expert (I almost have Today down on expert, go me?), I just like killing some time with some good music and some button mashing.
So if someone wants to call that pathetic, all the power to them. I kind of feel sorry for them.

It's no longer this guy:

It's Danny Johnson.

That makes perfect sense.
Yup. Perfect sense. Especially coming from somebody commenting on a gaming blog. You sure put him in his place for daring to have free time.
