The set ups the ante over Rock Band, having only three pads and a petal but adding two dedicated cymbals to the mix. Feels like a case of "but ours goes to eleven" to me, but they had to stay competitive somehow I suppose. Hit up the link for slightly more information, but if you really want the full scoop, pick up the latest issue of Game Informer magazine.

<![CDATA[Guitar Hero IV To Feature A Slew Of Instruments]]> Conde Nast Portfolio magazine isn't generally our number one source for gaming news, but Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has told the publication that Guitar Hero IV will...well...we'll just let him say it.

It's not just about guitars. We'll include a lot of other instruments, vocals. It will help us expand internationally. It's the first game we've had in which we can use local content and local bands.
Ooh! I vote on guitar, bass, drums, Giant Axe Body Spray Bottle and vocals. Though I also wouldn't scoff at a rebreakable guitar, implemented for extra Star Power. In all seriousness, the "local bands" idea is intriguing. I wonder how far they'll actually flesh that one out.

<![CDATA[Def Leppard In Guitar Hero 4]]> There is no better pick me up in the world than the opening chords of Def Leppard's "Photograph". See for yourself once Guitar Hero 4. During an interview wit the band on the radio show Rockline, a caller asked why none of their songs were featured in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Guitarist Phil Collen replied, revealing that at least three of their hits would be featured in GH4, including "Rock of Ages", "Animal", and of course, "Photograph". Personally I was hoping they would show up as downloadable content for Rock Band, but that's only because I lost one of my drumsticks. Oh come on, I had to go there. It was a moral imperative.

<![CDATA[Beyond Guitar Hero 2]]>

Joystiq is reporting that Red Octane is considering three new sequels to the uber-popular Guitar Hero franchise and they have the logos to prove it.

Their source tells them that Guitar Hero: World Tour, Guitar Hero: Encore and Guitar Hero Axe Grinder are all under consideration. Hit Joy for a list of some of the other names under consideration. I just hope that Red Octane is also thinking about expanding the game to include more than just new songs with every iteration. Come on Bass.
