He also used the motion to decry "the complete lack of support from Government" of the industry.

Fable II (Lionhead Studios), Race Driver: GRID (Codemasters) and LittleBigPlanet (Media Molecule) were all developed at UK studios, and all won at this year's Bafta Video Games Awards. Vaizey, a Conservative, singled them out for praise) in his motion in the House of Common. Eleven members supported the motion.

Here is its full text:

That this House notes the importance of the video games sector to the UK economy; congratulates the winners and nominees at this year's Bafta Video Games Awards; notes in particular the success of UK developed games, including Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet, Codemasters' Race Driver: GRID and Lionhead Studios' Fable II, all of which won awards; applauds this recognition of the continued success and significance of video games despite the complete lack of support from Government; regrets the fact that this lack of support from Government has seen the UK fall from being the third largest producer of video games in the world to the fifth largest; and urges the Government to devise a clear and supportive strategy for the UK video games sector as part of the Digital Britain review.

Other MPs have also decried the Government's lack of interest in seeing its development industry thrive.

Perhaps coincidentally, perhaps not, the day's first motion expressed the House's "great shock and sorrow" at the shooting in Germany, which authorities there pinned on the gaming habit of a disturbed teenager.

<![CDATA[GRID Gets 8-Ball DLC]]> Codemasters are trundling out eight new cars for GRID fans today as they launch the GRID 8-Ball Pack for Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

The new motors are the McLaren F1 GTR, Nissan GT-R, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Honda S2000, VW Nardo, Pontiac Firebird Trans AM, TVR Cerbera Speed 12 and Volvo C30. Both versions will come with two new multiplayer modes, while the Xbox pack adds 4 new 25-point Achievements.

The PC version of GRID is meant to have its own dollop of DLC, but Codemasters would only say that details and a release date will be available "shortly".

<![CDATA[Why My GRID Review Is Late]]> Any of you folks have a game genre that you truly want to excel at but can't seem to get the hang of? For me that genre is definitely the driving game. Every time a new, promising driving game comes out I rush to the store, head home, and crash for several hours. The only time I've had even modest success is the Burnout series, and that's only because you are supposed to be a danger to yourself and others.

Witness my early attempts at racing here with Codemasters' new multi-format racer GRID, or Race Driver: GRID for you folks in Europe, who apparently need the extra clarification. It's quite sad, but at least I'm having fun, right? As I mention in the video, look for a full review next week, once I get into the swing of things.

<![CDATA[GRID Gameplay Video]]> I'm not a huge driving fan. I play them of course, but the only kind of driving games I can really get into are the off-roads ones. GRID looks OK, but nothing that seems to separate it from the pack. What about the racing fans out there, what do you think?

<![CDATA[GRID Footage Gets The Job Done]]>
Here's some in-game footage of Codemaster's upcoming racer GRID. Looks...well, as pretty as a game's going to look through a grainy, low-res embedded web clip. It's funny, I bet if Forza creators Turn 10 inherit the PGR series in Bizarre's absence, this is exactly what the two series' bastard lovechild would look like.
